Inline Fans To Cool 1000w HPS!

This is the only component of my grow op that im missing. i recently herd these are good.
Im thinking about getting the 6'' TD 150.

Any one have experiance with them?

1) enough power to pull through carbon scrubber and still move alot of air.
2) How quiet is it, i own my house and dont need to worry about sound really but i dont want something that im going to hear from the next room over when im trying to sleep lol

In my opinion better unit cheaper price

that looks great, nice price too. how quiet is it? and does it have enough power to suck through a carbon scrubber, while moving mass amount of air. i may be upgrading to another hps so it has to keep 1-2 1000w hps's cool. i also have 2 AC ducts running straight from the ac into the room so that keeps the temps down a bit even with out the exhaust

I really am not sure about the carbon scrubber but I do know you need a inline fan with a certain amount of CFM to push through a carbon Scrubber.

There is a thread here about carbon scrubbers but I am not sure which one

I hear those fans are very quiet

the cfm doesnt really matter i herd, its the actual power of the fan.. any fan rated at 250cfm can o it, but can it do it while pulling through a carbon scrubber... i dont ant to buy it, strap it to a scrubber and only get 10cfm. lol

The fans your looking at are more of a booster fan. I really don't think they will give you the air volume your looking for.
For a thousand watt lamp and a carbon filter, I would suggest a decent size in line fan. You can allways add a speed controler, which would give you total control. I'm using a 465 cfm pulling threw two 400s. That allows me to touch the tops of my plants without burning them. If your interested in going that way let me know. I picked up my last fan (500 cfm) for $90.

These are definitely not booster fans. There are only 2 wires. Negative and positive. There is no speed control on these fans, that is why they are not booster fans.

Now I can not comment on using these fans to run through two 1000 HID bulbs, but I know that they will definitely be more than enough to coll one of these bulbs.

As far as the carbon scrubber, its depends on the design. They all are different and some do not require a high CFM to push through them

I do agree though that the higher CFM fans can do a whole lot more.

Anyway I am glad you have a system that works great for you

It also depends on how high your ambient (outside temperatures) temperature and how good of insulation you have. If your house is well insulated and temps around below 80 degrees outside, you could probably be good with one 6 inch inline fan.

Temps outside at night are around 60-70, and during the day 70-85. the house is WELL insulated, the attic has one layer of insulation + a foot thick of "loose" insulation through out the house. so its a good solid ft and a half of insulation at all points. the temp inside the house is always at 74.

why dont you pull air from out side thru the lights then back outside? Then you can get away with like150 cfm. then add a second foryour scrubber/exhaust for room. this way works very well in hot climates as the light puts no heat into the room

I sure wish somebody knew how well these fans work? 4" at 250 cfm is about the strongest cfm for a 4" fan. I just bought one of the P&S fans and it should be here in the next couple of days. The CFM is 140 peak and I thought that was good.

Hey do you think you could help me find a fan for cheap? I need it to cool a 600 watt and pull through or push through a scruber. Im not sure exactly how it goes maybe some 1 can clearify to me how if you had a grow tent with a carbon scrubber how you would set it up?

A 6 inch 449 cfm fan pulling through your light and a carbon filter and exhausting to the outside should be enough.

Carbon Filter -> Light Hood -> Fan -> Outside

If you check out my journal, that's the way I have it set- up. I think it's more efficent to pull air through rather than try to push it out. Also, you don't need to worry about hiding a carbon filter outside somewhere.

Like the poster before me said... A lot of it depends on ambient temperature in your house and outside. I run two 1000w lights in Seattle where it is very cool. I have 4 inline fans cooling them, and the lights still increase the temperature inside my room substantially.

I am running a closed system right now for Co2 with just my lights being vented with cool air, and use 4 inline fans to boost the airflow, the room temperature sits at around 80-85 degrees with no A/C (on a 60 degree day).

If you're looking to cool the lights off substantially, then you need to increase the CFM on the lights beyond 600-1000 CFM. I had a 500 dollar canfan pulling air over my lights at one point, and that reduced the temperature a bit more than my current setup, but was very noisy.

One thing that I've found which works well for reducing noise to use as much straight metal ducting as you can. Flexible ducting creates a lot more noise.

It would be pointless for me to pul air in from outside when i already have COLD air blowing into the room via 2 ducts directly from my AC. i just need to pull the hot air out. im stuck on what i want to get, but i have to get it withing the next few weeks as i am in the process of moving and want to have everything before i move.

i dont have a air cooled hood, so i may get 2 inline fans and place one with a scrubber at the top of the room, and one ending right above the bulb and under the hood, so hopefully that will get most of the hot air coming off the bulb, and the exhaust at the top will get what other heat there is. i think it sounds pretty solid, but im still debating on which fan i want to get lol.

the td 150 may work for 1 light but whith scrubber i would go bigger if odor is a real problem

i use a 6" vortex (http://www.247gardensupply.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=415_376_377_480&products_id=2211) on 2 600 and 1 400 inline whith 2 turns and will be updateing to 8" and bigger ducting because heat is a real issiue for me come jul,aug,sep so it will apply diffrent to every room and needs but whith 2 1000 and a carbon scrubber on end get a 8" inline fan as standrd advice from most fourms i have read on
you may even want 1 6" for lights and 1 6 " for scrubber

Nope this is more a booster fan, a good choice would be a centrifugal fan... a vortex or a valueline... as for the 2 cables with the controller.. you can simply wire the + over the controller and voila! i don't suggest you buy a cheap fan and have to buy a 2nd one to get the job done...
