Is it possible that some really frosty strains are just flat-out impotent?

So...just out of curiosity....

If a strain is grown to perfection and everything that a grower can do right is done right...and the buds looks completely covered in frosty trichomes...and it's dried and cured properly...In other words, it looks perfect....but, upon smoking (vaping, etc.) it lacks flavor and just doesn't ever seem to get you high....Is it because the strain in a low THC/high CBD strain? Or, is it because some strains can produce trichomes that lack ANY kind of medicinal or psychoactive properties altogether?

Please list examples if you have any.

Thanks!

(grown perfectly) I've never had a dud . AK48 (edit) was close lol
I've had mids that were poor in my opinion that were someone best ever though, so its
subjective too, your frosty you dont like might be loved by another.
I'd blame it on genetics if it happened here.
cbd varieties disappoint me all of the time like this

Amount of Trichs doesn't correlate with potency. THC is made in the heads of them but a plant covered in Trichs could have a low concentration of THC while a plant with a lot less frosty buds can have a much higher concentration of THC. This depends on how well it's grown, but mostly genetics.

That's why seed companies can tell you how potent a seed will be even though you could grow it really badly.
A badly grown plant with good genetics might have a higher concentration of THC but because it was poorly grown it could have very little Trichs at all, overall making it not very potent.

If you aren't getting high, and there is no flavor, but you grew and cured it perfect I would blame genetics.

That's why you can make some dank hash and concentrates with trim, overall leafs aren't as potent as buds but if you collect the trichs from the plant matter it will be just about as potent as trichs collected from bud but you will need more trim then bud to get the same amount of hash because there is less trichs

I can attest for every seed vendor advertised in high times, on riu, and those other ones too, never been ripped off, scammed or lied to

Except for that #18 change in seeds some years ago(foogers, but I'm over it) its all been repeatable results for me so far.
a48 did suck all 3 times I grew it. grew nice though, frosty, tall, big buds....shit.

dunno bout that.....a badly grown/dried plant always gave up inferior effects for me
Of course I agree healthy plants produce better buds but I have to admit I have burned a few and underfed a few pretty bad that turned out pretty frosty and potent.

I have also not enjoyed the frostiest strains as much as some less frosty much more complex and potent ones.

as said, trichs dont = thc always, but trichs usually almost always contain medicinally beneficial compounds. if it smells nice, then it has terpenes at the least. If it was supposed to be a high thc strain, then perhaps the plant was not fully mature, immature trichomes contain little to no thc, and thats one reason why its important to wait till the bud is ready. a mature trichome will begin to swell almost looking like its about to burst and typically begin to become cloudy (but not always, also some strains go straight to amber it seems and this does not necessarily mean that the trichomes have degraded some strains just produce amber trichomes when they are mature) This is why trichs are not the only way you should check a plants maturity but they are a good indicator.

Also as said and hypothesized by op it could also have been a cbd strain, in which case there wont be any psychoactive effect, although it will relieve anxiety and relax you. If you suffer from a one or more of myriad of health problems, a good toke of cbd will be so good its nuts. its almost better than getting stoned. I fucking love getting high, but I honestly will be more worried about being dry of cbd, than thc. although i do get the best medical benefit from the combination, cbd alone is usually more beneficial than thc alone for me at least. all that said, I use thc and cbd every day, and thats how theyre most effective, although its important to moderate intake, and go through periods of lower intake so as to maintain long term efficacy.

This has been a total ramble, i had just done a lovely dab of some self made thc oil and cbd oil in one, literal bliss.

Thc content is not just in trich's!

The plant matter it's self contains cannabiniod compounds. Of course, not like trich's do....I to have smoked some intense strains with low trich counts.

I have smoked Sativa's that I felt were pretty damn "flat".....They did remove pain and were rather calming....One went into a cross made for my shops. In the end the stabilized strain averaged THC of 11 and CBD of 9.....It was placed on the shelf to see what would happen......It could not be grown fast enough....and as I was addressing the problem....I got that cop infestation.....Resulting in that strain being lost.....Damn thing grew the biggest damn buds! Stupid high yield! I got a call from a cpl of shops in the State capitol the other day....."You got any beans left?" :wall: :wall: :wall:

crystallized thc doesnt get you high?

some peoples' high is not like other people's high maybe? entourage effect describes why the highs differ between plant varieties, compounding terpenes and such I thought. like dlimonene being so efficient at breaking the blood brain barrier quickly, perhaps explaining why varieties like Lemon Skunk have such a fast onset, I dunno, sounded good to me.
I have no use for cannabis without thc, none today anyways. it makes me nauseous when I roll one up and inhale. I avoid autos for the same reason, sumpin aint right about that field shit.

THC itself won't get you that high, you get higher from the combination of THC and other cannabinoids, its the entourage effect. Read this article

https://www.leafly.com/news/cannabis-101/cannabis-entourage-effect-why-thc-and-cbd-only-medicines-arent-g

It's the main reason i am growing for terpenes and essential oils more than THC content. Much stronger high and flavors are incredible.
I agree. You can get blasted with a 25%+ THC strain but a 19% strain with more balanced variety of cannabanoids and terpenes always gives a better, more complex and more medically useful high.

My favorite breeder says go for flavor and smell when picking breeding plants.

Everyone today goes for more frost. Not the key to better meds.

I've grown AK48 and thought is was decent smoke. Nothing fantastic. Shared it with a couple people. Gave them bud to smoke at their leisure. One guy said it was some the best he's ever had. Still says it to this day. The other person was female. Two good hits off a small glass pipe. She could barely open her eyes and just sat there smiling.

It's a, Man.... WTF? I'm smoking the same shit. How come I'm not as fucked up as you?
