Is It Really Hard To Get A MMJ Card?

I am moving to Oregon next month and I want to get a medical mj card but I am wondering if it is really hard to do. I have fibromyalgia, insomnia, and morgellons disease (which most doctors don't believe is real). I am wondering if it is difficult to get a card for those issues. I know I can smoke but I am moving into an apartment where it is against their rules. If i could get edibles I probably wouldn't need the card but until they become available I am stuck with just smoking, right?

I don't know about Oregon, but in CA. you just need a valid reason, even if its only to help you sleep...and $60.00 bucks

now you might have problems if you take opioid pain medication, not all doctors allow the use of both: some make you choose, you want your pills or you wanna smoke ganja.

the pain doctor would drug test, as well.

Somewhere on that site is a list of the conditions that are approved, some of them are broad enough that your condition(s) might fall under them.

As I understand it at this point only Medical folks can buy edibles, because the OLLC hasn't figured out how to regulate edibles dosage yet. Should happen this year I think. In the mean time you could (as a Rec person) make your own after buying (or growing) buds.

My wife has RA, she had no problem getting her card. We used one of the many "clinics" that help facilitate. Her employment provides medical coverage through Kaiser, and they won't submit applications for medical cards, but they did send her records to a clinic (at her request) with a doctor on staff who reviewed them and submitted them. I think the clinic gets $200 for that service and submitting the paperwork (plus you pay the state for their part, another $200). You can also submit the paperwork yourself, if you have a doctor who will sign off on it. It's all kind of odd if you ask me, but once you're in its worth it.

It looks really easy to get a card in CA. What I've read about OR is another matter. makes me nervous to think I might not be able to get edibles.

I read the OR rules on getting a card awhile back, that's why I thought Id ask here. It looks like there are a lot of hurdles to jump through. Like the doctor who diagnosed me with Fibro, that was 20 years ago and I can't remember his name or the clinic anymore. I don't even know how to go about getting my old medical records.

And as far as cooking... I will be living in an apartment that doesn't allow "federally illegal drugs", in other words, they don't want us using cannabis in their apartments. Sucks! So cooking is out of the question since everyone will be able to smell it.

Yea man my moms doctor would not recommend her for OMMP so we had to go to a different clinic. Seems most of the doctors just want you to take painkillers instead of using marijuana because it doesn't make their insurance company money

Fwiw even if they don't recommend you 2 OMMP as long as the chart notes State the qualifying condition (and that marijuana seems to help) you can get your card with that without having to go through a clinic. A lot of doctors cannot refer you because the clinic they work through doesn't allow with them however they are allowed to write in your chart notes, then you just request a free copy of your chart notes and send notes made within 90 days to the ommp. At least that's what I did successfully this year...

Wow, Ok i will give that a try. That would make it pretty simple. Thanks for the advice.

They had a clinic with a doctor in Coos bay at the red lion hotel i'm not sure who i called last time i'll look into it and post here if i can find out it costs some $$ tho just a heads up

Source? (looking around colorado's various newspapers, and MMJ site doesn't mention anything of the sort. Given how slow government works, that suggests such a thing wouldn't happen for 5+ more years at the earliest...

Generally speaking, the people who warn (or rumor) that rec will kill medical tend to do so with no basis in reality and around the time that states are considering having recreational (*cough* california *cough*) but maybe I'm just being cynical, and it's not about people trying to make money... (note: NOT directed you specifically)

Oregon is a recreationally legal state. Just buy it without a card. If it's cheaper, get your card, but otherwise, you don't need it.

As long as they won't let recreational users buy edibles or concentrates I will need a card. I don't want to smoke it since i will be living in an apartment that bans it. so i want to be able to eat it. hopefully they will change those laws by the end of this year.

Why not just vape and make edibles with raw product? Other than that, I gotcha.

I am going to vape! :mrgreen: I have one on order and can't wait for it to arrive.

And I've never cooked MJ but everyone says your whole building will be able to smell it. don't know if that is true or not but i'm not going to take any chances. It sucks that I will be living in a free state but having to hide usage in my apartment.

He'a right, it will. Both decarboxylation and extraction, as well as actual baking will make your place smell like weed.

I live in an Oregon apartment that has a no 'drug' policy. Consumption, possession, and distribution. I vape using an oil pen from the dispensary and it works perfectly. Although you can smell all the neighbors smoking every night. Only time you really need to worry is if you have nosey neighbors or when it's time for annual inspections.

As for getting a card I am currently waiting for mine In the mail, the only issues I've had so far obtaining mine are the wait and grower bailing after submitting the paperwork.
