Is this cyanobacteria?

Will take some pictures tomorrow, before the system is cleaned and changed to the pool shock.

The difference I see in the white matter from other unsuccessfull grows, is that it doesnt really smell when I gather it with my hands and squeeze it, but cant be good...

if im not mistaken 1gram = 1millilter right? if so then u are giving them .1millilters per 10 gallons ? of what ? household bleach? maybe @6% concentration? or are u using pool shock which is 50%+ in concentration?
I got myself an ORP meter and started to play around with bleach and orp, got a nice opr of 600 by using 1ml bleach @6%(concentration) per gallon and giving it to my clones and a few teens in coco. So far, now about 5 days have passed and 2 times watered like that, plants look healthy and happy. I dont get it lol.
I looked up at the online calculators and 1ml of bleach @6% per gallon =16ppm of bleach, if this is correct then my plants should of died long time ago no?
I didnt just randomly come up with 600ORP reading , There is a post here on rollitup and she discusses how 600ORP is pretty good and you need 750 and above to kill root rot, I also tried to get my ORP to 750 but it was coming out to about 20ml of bleach per gallon , now i was not gonna test that out since i was pretty sure that would kill my plants on the spot.
** note for anyone wondering ORP = Oxidation-reduction potential
I used my lemon scented toilet bleach worked a treat
I just hope my iced grapefruit is still like my last coco run and not now a lemon grapefruit lol
Maybe I'm confused due to american calculations but my bleach is 4.6% in that calculator it worked out I had to add 5ml for the 75L of water
After the massive clean out I'm not even measuring just a tiny little drop and maybe back to 5ml per 75L once every few weeks
That one dose alone solved my problems

I owe you guys a lot ty!

Managed to get next day delivery on a new green man system brain controller (the new 19mm one) fills and drains way quicker than my broken 13mm
Managed to unclog my drippers which I swear are now shooting out more water than they did on day 1
Managed to finally fit reverse osmosis filter! From 250ppm tap water to 25ppm RO water

Only problem I have now is at full dose of my dutch pro grow A + B my res is only 450ppm ‍♂ I thought hmm PH down will add some but my PH was 6.1 so it only needed 2ml ‍♂

All my old grows with coco were with pretty much the whole range a bit of everything I'm now learning root stress nutes arent needed without root stress DUH so I need to work out whats the right thing to add to get that PPM up without

Cyanobacteria, no. Cyan = blue/green. It would be colored.
"The dreaded white slime"
It is similar to that pink stuff you see on your shower curtains and faucets.
It has a cellulose layer protecting the organism that needs to be broken down before you can actually kill it.
Been there, it sucks. Everyone's water chemistry is different so you need to find what works for YOU. Be it EWC Tea, Bleach, Peroxide, HOCL whatever.
But the answer is not toilet bleach. That has a lot of extra thickeners and nasty shit. Save it for the toilet.

Gotcha, if problems come back I will try one at a time to see.
Currently no devastating PH swings like before though.

Bro are they foam shells to stop the pumps vibrating your pump? Or foam designed to pull in any slime? Look like paint rollers! Either way I want some for my tank and brain controller

The 4 under my old blurple lights (veg switch only) are doing extremely well since the clean out they're 6 inches above 45k lux

20210118_115235.jpg

The 4 under the lumatek are hurting, I think its extreme light stress I had it lowered to match the 45k lux and paid the price the leafs are very bleached, droopy and growth was stunted
20210118_115247.jpg
20210118_115307.jpg

Pretty sure I've found a sweet spot now, 24 inches above at 50% intensity there was a lot of growth last night in the form of healthy green leaf I last night stumbled across VPD/DLI so im going to read into that today

Dripper ring down from 24 hours a day to 5 15 minute intervals to get back the dead roots I had to chop off as you can see here its starting to work, they are nice and white without any slime
20210118_115607.jpg
I only have 1 enviro ET pump the one capable of 12 lines so that's my 8 drippers without any of my new air bubbler rings included figured to run the air rings 247 but not the aerated drippers I'm going to need to run 2 pumps im going to get the ET80 so once the roots are strong I can switch from both pumps running to just the one pump running both the air rings and the dripper 24 7, currently using cannazym to break down some of the dead roots inside the hydroton I cant get to.

Temperature raised (I thought temps in the low 20s was OP growing but turned out to be inferior)

Cheap PH pen fucked, even after recalibration it's up and down in my res with the pump it starts at 0 shoots up to 5.8-5.9 stays there for maybe a millisecond then down to 0 and shooting up its acting like a slot machine, if I use it in the brain controller or jerrycan its number doesnt fly about but it will give me a number I believe 5.8 then goes 5.83 5.86 5.89 5.92 always up 0.3 per second so I have just ordered an expensive apera PH meter to avoid this noncense

Scrog net home made from a pond net is terrible but it is doing its job the 4th plant is 9" tall 15" wide with so many heads on that canopy and very strong stems despite only being topped once
20210118_122622.jpg
20210118_122713.jpg

I was planning on vegging out a lot longer to fill as much as possible and get the plants almost touching but I need to read up more as I've now found out I should keep tucking beneath the net for the first 2 weeks I go into flower so I'm guessing that initial drastic stretch is going to be more of a stretch out than up which will bush things anyway and the plants which are ahead of the others seem to be becoming too strong for the scrog net to contain especially since the RO filter made way to add some silicon

I set out to learn hydro to 1st hand make these mistakes so I can learn from them but it has been like a 24 hour job this past couple of weeks I'm glad I can finally chill and there it is, my mother plant 14 days into flower looking amazing making me think why oh why did I not just stay in coco like I always have lol its bushy it has finished stretching it has about 20 main heads but it vegged a hell of a lot slower than my hydro!

Pretty annoyed really this "amazing" light which cost me a fortune seems to have ruined half my crop it's not growing at all just dropping there.
The blurple lights everyone said were shit are doing a magnificent job

Holy purple stems batman! :bigjoint:

that's not light bleaching under the lumatek
Do you know what it is?
New growth now is coming through quite green and looking healthy
I'm unsure as to what's caused this as I lowered the light intensity and raised it at the same time as I recieved my PH down, cal mag, silicon, bennies and installed RO filter which all came late leaving me with high PH levels for almost a week
I feel because I was changing so much at the same time its left me clueless as to what the actual problem was but at least my babies are recovering well

Holy purple stems batman! :bigjoint:
I've never actually had purple stems before not even last time when I grew this strain and the mother plant doesnt have purple stems
I've read it can be from scrogging or stress, probably 10% scrog 90% stress from the way my learning hydro activity has been kicking me in the ass lol

Streaking on the main stem isn't too bad.... just don't let it turn completely red.

I'd like to place myself into the scrog noob hall of fame
Despite all of my mistakes I have learnt from there is no excuse for this one
This shall serve as a constant reminder of what a noob I am

I guess I learnt why "dont diy a sagging scrog net" the hard way
I way thinking slightly uneven canopy
But not this
I actually think this has happened overtime instead of overnight because now I have evened it out the canopy is less even lol

New growth looking good though I think maybe I'll put them into flower on the last day of this month
Also it has to have been light stress as its only affected those under the lumatek the others are a nice shiny green from top to bottom all pots share the same res
Shrug net lifted (I have a 2.2m height tent and I was way overdoing it with how short I was keeping them anyway)
I have ordered a couple more ratchets to even out the lagging parts
I now feel very confident in terms of hydro I feel I have made a lot of mistakes predominantly enough to learn from them I'm not going to get a huge per square meter yield but I will get a nice per plant yield
Can not wait for 2nd hydro grow

Do you do weekly res changes? Looks like pythium. I would just use bleach and call it a day. 2-3ppm to everything added to the reservoir.

I've used chlorine for years. These ladies are grown with only a complete plant food, potassium silicate and bleach.

Here's a dilution calculator for calculating dosage: http://www.foodsafe.ca/dilution-calculator.html
Killer lights mate.

To clarify, I have for the last 18 months been struggling with slime on the roots.

First up I tried adding H202 from the local drug store 3%, that didnt work.

Then Hydroguard alone, didnt work.

Then a Heisenberg tea with Hydroguard as an ingredient, that sadly also didnt work.

Bleach has now been applied to one of two NFT systems I have each having 4 plant and it works, at 5 ppm max.

Afterwards I bought a bottle of H202 at 12% with 1 ml pr liter a day, which as run now for 14 days with no issues.

An important change is that I have stopped using an airstone in the reservoir, because I suspect it may have been a cause for this, also because in over 15 years with NFT I have done fine without.

I now run with a ph of 5,6 instead of the usual 6,0.

Final change this time has been going to Advanced Hydroponics PH down instead of PH down from GHE.

For over 15 years I used nothing but tap water with a ph adjusted to 6,0 and Flora Micro and Bloom from GHE, reservoir smelled like an aquarium the first 2 days and then it was clear water all the way, even without changing the reservoir even once during a 60 day run.

But to each there own. From my experience you have to try different solutions until you find what works best for you.

Have a good day people...
You guys literally saved my life

Bleach 1 - root rot 0

Did it once and then went onto bennies (cannazym)

I managed to get another few weeks recovery veg and almost 2 weeks of 12 12 in without using any bleach since I ve just had a tiny bit of algae on the air rings tube where they were submerged i spotted it early cleaned them off and give it a small 2ppm rebleach in the res

Slightly worriedaabout buds smelling/tasting a bit sodium hypochloritey so I have ordered silver bullet roots

My roots never did fully recover I mean I cant see them, none came back out the bottom off the trays but plant health is very good I have gone from fuck off am I ever using hydro again to I cant wait to do my next lot now I know what I'm doing

This bleaching soundedso scary but it really should be on the front of any hydro advertisement!
