ISO alchol hard to come by. now curious which 99% to use making hash?

I've been searching for just plain 91% ISO alcohol to clean my pipe, etc, and everyone seems to be out, without any idea when they'll get any more.

So, when I realized I'm almost out of 99% to make my hash with, (I got too lazy to learn how to make bubble hash before my batch from growing last year got to be to small for me to want to use so much at once....and, I didn't plan/read how to use the whole plant when we harvested, so that put me back on it...) anyway, I stray....
I looked it up and they're out of what I got before & noticed so many types of ISO alcohol. I want to be sure I'm at least not smoking more poison than I already am by using the ISO.....

What I'm curious about are the difference between: or, what should I use?
Anyhdrous
High purity rubbing
laboratory grade

and, I guess that's it....

Any ideas?

Just as the holidemic was starting while everyone was buying enough toilet paper to wipe up an eternity of spilled nutrient mix, I was having a hard time locating good ISO as well.

Went with a smaller local industrial chemical company. 99.9% ISO, but I had to buy four gallons of the stuff. Four one gallon containers. Good thing about real chemical companies is that they have very, very good records of their materials, with easy to access MSDS sheets for everything so you can review everything about what you're buying. The people on the phone are quite intelligent in their products as well.

A little excessive going for so much, but a good price and I have enough alcohol now to get through this, and another pandemic.

But, does it matter which kind of ISO? Amazon has some, but there are several types. I'll also try mouser.com. thanks!

I'm in the same boat as you Susanne. I have over a pound of popcorn buds/trim and was wanting to make a bunch of oil but I cant find any iso stronger than 70% in my area. Debating on whether I should use a gallon of everclear or not.

Amazon does have the 99%....several types. The only reason I haven't ordered any is that there are at least 4 types & I don't know which one to order. I mentioned those on my initial thread starter. I may just pick one & order soon before they're all gone, too!

I use everclear every time works awesome. Make sure you have great airflow the fumes makes my head hurt.

Thanks guys...plenty of everclear at my local walmart. Never used it before, how much flower will a fifth of 190 proof clean? I have at least a pound, probably more...just need an idea of how many bottles I'll need to pick up. Sorry to hijack your thread Susanne.

Im sorry i didnt keep exact amount, but I bought 2 of those big bottles. That was used for almost 7 or 8ish oz. I didnt even care really just needed the meds lol.

anhydrous just means it has no water in it. The stuff at mouser is 99.9% iso. Its used in electronics because it evaporates off entirely pretty quickly.
I made the iso hash in the tent with the carbon scrubber cranking. It was pretty strong and all, but i prefer my bubble hash

Costco here in Edmonton has 4x 500ml 99% isopropyl for $11.99 CND, incredibly low price especially these days

not bad! Wish we had a Costco. Too small of a 'city' LOL..... but , I'll see if they sell online. Haven't heard of it, but maybe with COVID,they started.

yes, you can order 100% from wig/human hair places. i used to do this when i couldn't find locally.

You can also use acetone, just don't use any plastic things with it because it dissolves some plastics, like polystyrene. Faster drying than alcohol too, though maybe more smelly. It's just the plastic dissolving and probably lower purity that makes it a second choice to alcohol, but in a pinch it will do. Highly flammable so I wouldn't heat it up. Though actually if you're going to get burned by solvent that's on fire, acetone is better than alcohol because it won't destroy the tissue. With alcohol you would probably need a skin graft.
