Jacks Classic vs. Fox Farm Side by Side Comparison

I've read and read about nutrients. Then I read some more. When jacks classic came up I looked into their line. A member here showed his plant grown with jacks and it looked good. What I did was purchase a 4 lb. tub of jacks dynamic duo. Price was $39 & change for the 2 including delivery. I plan on germinating an even # of purple skunk seeds. Half using jacks the other half using fox farm. I will post pics once they start germinating.

Good test project. I've been using FF but was planning on trying out the Jacks line myself, so it will be interesting to see how your comparison comes out. What are the parameters of your grow (lights, soil vs hydro, etc), and are you using the full set of FF products or just some of them?

I'm using Soil (not fox farms), I have their full line Tiger & Big Bloom, grow Big as well as cha ching open sesame and beastie. Once they show their sex they'll be under a 600 watt hps. They're gonna veg under natural light I have a sun room that the plants can soak up some good light in.

I couldn't tell you which coast the nutes came from. I bout them from HTGsupply. I stopped using their soil. Too expensive. I found an organic soil sold locally that has no nutes in. I add perlite & lime and so far all has been really good.

Looks like your grow is close to mine, though I'm using FF ocean forest soil and don't have the natural lighting option during veg you will. I run a 600w for flower myself, so your grow should show results similar to what I could expect. :)

The daylight time is more like a flowering light schedule. I have a few wonder woman ladies finishing up in there & they seem to like the natural sunlight more than they do the hps bulb.

Natural light always seem to outperform artificial light as far as i can tell. It's got all the right spectrums, there's no real concerns about it providing enough lumens, it's hitting the plant from every angle, and you don't have to worry much about penetration to the lower parts of the plant. If our climate was suitable for outdoor growing year round and I had a way to keep the grow hidden so I wouldn't have to worry about someone stealing the plants or doing a midnight harvest I'd never grow indoors, but things being the way they are I'm stuck with my 400w veg and 600w flowering lights. :)

Ok here's the deal. This question is for those that have used Jack or are familiar with it. I'm anticipating jacks to be as good as fox farm, if not, it'll be one step below. Nothing major when you factor in the price. With that being said, I have several plants that have been flowering for a 2-3 weeks on fox farm. But like I said I plan on the differences between the 2 to be close so I hope I will end up using jacks for all future soil grows. What I want to do is switch to jacks on the plants that have been flowering. I guess that would be using the bloom booster? I also have a few that are still veggin' and I wanna use the 20-20-20 on those. The reason I'm hopin this is ok is because there isn't enough grow big to use on the vegging & flowering plants and use in the side by side comparison. Anyone ever change nutes in the middle of a grow? If so, were there any ill effects? All recommendations are appreciated.

East coast or West coast FF!:):):) U must have a big grow to use the 4# tubz? That shité will last awhile. Im a Jacks fan. I used FF trio and fried my shit. Not FF fault, the faulty growers to blame:) I would just b careful switchin, if there big, id go 1/2-3/4 strengh to start. Dont go big off the bat. Also, my buddy Riddleme^^^^ I think would agree, get some Cal/Mag+ good luck, smoke well...

It isn't that big of a grow. I bout the 4 lb tubs cause they were inexpensive compared to the FF nutes. You really think jacks is gonna need cal/mag added to it. I was reading the ratios on jacks and I believe it has some of that. If more is needed whats a good thing to add to make up the difference?

Its sorta strain dependent. I doje a few thatnever needed any. But alot of my others did. Its just one of those supplements I def keep around now. Never know.. My girls are asleep right now, but I think I bought Botanicare Cal-mag plus.

jacks clasic has everything we need

You mean to tell me that you open your tub of jacks and that's what was inside it? My tub didn't have that in it. I got short changed... Im calling them in the morning and ask for my scrumptous bud that was missing from my tub!

Yeah Jack's is the sh*t, I did run into a cal/mag def about week 7 of flower but also had a rootbound problem that could of had more to do with it, I supplimented with DynaGro rather than a cal/mag product, I also use Dolomite in my medium to offset the need to suppliment cal/mag

See, I jus switched from FFOF to Sunshine mix#4. So far so good. But, I had my babies in FFOF to start with, thats when I ran into Cal def. Again, coulda been strain related.

I have read that quite a few folks have cal/mag def's while using FFOF soil
