Living in fear and unemployable: Far-right extremists are finding themselves doxed and out of work - Raw Story - Celebrating 17 Years of Independent Journalism

According to a Washington Post deep dive into the fall-out after a pro-Trump couple from the Portland area were exposed after harassing a reporter at the Million MAGA March in Washington, D.C., last November, the report notes that far-right extremists are increasingly finding themselves fired from their jobs and virtually unemployable after their names and faces are exposed by their victims.

As the Jan 6th Capitol insurrectionists are being rounded up by the FBI with the help of the public who are being provided with videos filmed during the riot after Trump's "Stop the Steal" speech, their future appears bleak even if they avoid jail time.

Case in point, Edward Jeremy Dawson and his wife Michelle who both lost their jobs after he harassed a journalist in DC, his identity was revealed despite wearing a mask and they were forced to keep weapons handy in their home while fearful after being harassed for their activities.

In a video (which can be seen below), Edward Dawson can be seen crowding reporter Laura Jedeed which led to him being exposed when it was posted online and eventually his firing.

According to the WaPo's Robert Klemko, "Two days later, Dawson lost his job as an ironworker, his employer citing his actions in D.C. His wife, Michelle, uploaded a tearful self-shot video to Twitter announcing his firing, and later that month she was asked to hand in her vest and badge at a Walmart in Battle Ground, Wash., where she worked as an online-order fulfiller. She thinks she was fired over her politics but acknowledges that she had missed a substantial amount of work because of back problems," adding, "Anonymous abusive callers deluged the Dawsons' cellphones, with some urging the couple to kill themselves, the Dawsons said."

Klemko notes that doxing has become commonplace with the rise of social media and that it is employed by people on both the left and the right as a form of retribution.

"The doxing of Dawson highlights the effect the tactic can have — unemployment and personal upheaval followed by a new job that pays much less than his old one — but also the limits of the technique: Dawson is unrepentant for his role in galvanizing a mob to harass Jedeed and continues to espouse far-right views," the report states.

Noting the couples' background, with Dawson defending white nationalism and praising Donald Trump, the report goes on to describe the change in their lives since the D.C. altercation.

"Doxing works, Dawson said. He guesses that 60 percent of his friends in the movement have been doxed and that some have had to move and change jobs," Klemko wrote. "The Dawsons installed a security system at their home, moved their firearms to spots with easier access, deactivated their social media accounts and stopped answering their phones. When Dawson's wife left the house to attend rallies, she wore a bulletproof vest.

"I was terrified for my life,' she said."

Journalist Jedeed added, "From a practical perspective, I feel like being unemployable is going to push him in a more extreme direction. On the other hand, you shouldn't be able to act like that and then have nothing happen to you."

Fox News is smearing FBI because far-right fears Feds are closing in on insurrection leaders: ex-official

Former FBI Assistant Director Frank Figliuzzi says he thinks the debunked conspiracy theory Fox News personality Tucker Carlson has been pushing — that it was the FBI who attacked the Capitol and not Trump supporters seeking to overturn the election — is because conservatives fear the bureau is closing in on those who incited the attack.

Before Carlson pushed his conspiracy theory about the FBI, he pushed Trump's "Big Lie" about election fraud.

"I want to ask you about the idea of [Matthew Dowd's] that [Trump] was a clear and present danger and ask you if he still is," MSNBC's Nicolle Wallace said. "Because this is a story not just because this crazy ladies squatting in a mansion talking to Icelandic reporters furthered them, but because the disgraced ex-president grabbed them and sent them to his Justice Department and asked the Justice Department to act on them."

"You're absolutely right," Figliuzzi replied. "Let's be clear here, we're not talking about conspiracies that just spontaneously sprung up from the population as they do — urban legends that need to get swatted down or that take on a life of their own — we're looking at conspiracy as a deliberate strategy,."

"Deception as a strategy," he explained. "And you could argue that the former president now out of office has absolutely no guardrails and zero accountability and can engage in this even more often."

Figliuzzi explained the latest Fox News conspiracy theory that the FBI was behind the insurrection as because the bureau is closing in on the leadership of the attack.

"I think that they are frightened out of their minds that the FBI is actually looking at the root causes of this. And we have some confirmation of that because NBC News obtained one of the FBI interview transcripts of one of the January 6 defendants," he said. "And low and behold, what is one of the questions they asked him? 'Do you know anybody in Congress or congressional staffers? "If that is becoming a standardized question under certain circumstances, they have every right to be worried and that's why we'll see them continue to plant this cockamamy theory that the FBI did it."

People talk about these clowns like they are the only ones pissed off in America, when the stormed the capitol the made tens of millions of enemies out of patriotic Americans. I figure if they showed their face on video they will eventually be caught, indicted and doxed. Most republicans support Putin over Biden FFS, treason is not an issue for them either.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi announces she'll form a special select committee on Jan. 6 attacks

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced Tuesday that she will create a House Select Committee to investigate the attack on the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, said Guardian congressional reporter Hugo Lowell.

Republicans were able to block a bipartisan commission like the 9/11 commission in a Senate vote where many Republicans were willing to support the bill but many Democrats were out of town.

It's unknown how Pelosi will form the commission, though there are dozens of former Republican officials who could join the commission to ensure a bipartisan panel. The problem, however, is that many of those former Republican officials aren't likely supporters of former President Donald Trump.

Still, if Pelosi can manage to impanel a bipartisan commission it could give the panel more legitimacy once the findings are released.

hmmmm.

I would have felt a lot better if that legal document that the insurrectionist was asked if they had any ties to congress (or aides) if it also asked if they had any links to one of these three a-holes.

I figure Rudy will make shit up on Donald to get a walk (not that he'd have to), ditto for Stone, both would throw Trump under the bus, Flynn, looks nuts though. All will soon become desperados, especially Rudy, the feds have got him by the balls and must be squeezing them hard, at least he'd better hope the feds wanna buy what he will sell to avoid prison.

I dunno if the oath keepers are a pathway to nailing Trump, Stone is too cagy, too wily to get caught like that. Cracking Rudy would seem the easier way to get directly to Trump for several things, the insurrection among them. They could get them all with conspiracy to commit insurrection, with Rudy's help, along with other witnesses and evidence.

I can't see Garland standing in the way of this kind of case, he's been getting a lot of heat lately, but he could just be playing his cards close to his chest, which would be wise. As long as NY state has an iron clad case that is very well developed and nearing indictments, I can see the benefit of taking his time with Trump over the insurrection, but it cannot be forgotten about, he must act on it, if nothing else. I believe NY will convict and put Donald away for the rest of his miserable life and miserable it will be. However he has no indictments and is free to flee to Russia, off the Europe, then to Moscow, if Vlad will have him. Run and thumb his nose at Uncle Sam from Russia, or go to a NY state maximum security prison until they take him out in a bag.

He has already been caught. Trump and his minions are all in because they know that the only thing keeping them out of prison was Trump actually became POTUS.

This little bad news bears criminal enterprise Trump led is fully corrupt and complete morons. The only reason Trump squeezed out the win in 2016 is that the Russian military attacked us and they were all corrupt enough to use it.

My money is on them all getting caught. Again.

DOJ/Garland Need to Address the Nation on the Investigation into those who Incited the Insurrection

There has been rampant speculation over the past 24 hours about whether the Department of Justice will seek to defend Donald Trump in the several lawsuits that have ben filed against him for inciting the insurrections.

This speculation exposes the real problem: a lack of communication from the DOJ leadership about the nature of the investigation into those who funded, planned, organized and incited the insurrection, the attack on the US Capitol and on our very democracy.

This compares the DOJ press conference that was held on June 7 about another ongoing investigation - the ransomware attack on the Colonial Pipeline - with the deafening silence regarding the investigation into Trump and company for their apparent crimes.

Charges may be near for Roger Stone over Jan. 6 Capitol riot, legal expert says
"Could it progress to potential charges? You bet," former U.S. Attorney-turned-LA Times columnist Harry Litman said
1624548395457.png

Longtime Republican operative Roger Stone, who allegedly owes nearly $2 million in back taxes, is reportedly still on the Justice Department's radar for his purported role in organizing the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.

Alongside right-wing conspiracy theorist Alex Jones, Stone is now being investigated by federal prosecutors over his role in organizing and inciting the attempted Jan. 6 insurrection — an allegation he refutes.

News that was previously reported by The Washington Post near the end of February found new life on Twitter early this week when former United States Attorney-turned-Los Angeles Times legal affairs columnist Harry Litman tweeted, "Just wouldn't be a real scandal and outrage without the presence of, you guessed it, Roger Stone, whom DOJ now investigating for his role in 1/6 insurrection."

Litman followed up his statement Monday on MSNBC, where he discussed the ongoing DOJ investigations into Stone and Jones.

"I think they are leaving no stone unturned to kind of portray and determine the color of what happened here," he said. "Were the insurrectionists influenced by staff, members of Congress, Trump loyalists like Roger Stone and Alex Jones?"

While Jones and Stone didn't actually enter the Capitol building themselves, according to footage circulating online, Litman said investigators could be looking into whether the provocateurs incited Trump superfans ahead of the deadly events that day.

"They were not just there. They made really incendiary comments and, look, we already do have a conspiracy," he said. "Nine people have been charged, so anyone, including Stone, Jones, [Ali] Alexander who adopted that unlawful purpose and did any overt act would be guilty of conspiracy.

"In the case of a Stone, we know from previous conduct that the [Justice] Department isn't spoiling generally to go after him and former Trump people, but the paramount goal here is to really leave, forgive the expression, no stone unturned with respect to Jan. 6."

The longtime Republican strategist strongly dienes any wrongdoing stemming from the events that day.

"I have no involvement whatsoever in the illegal events of Jan. 6," Stone told Salon Monday night.

Litman finished his segment on MSNBC by speculating that charges could be in the pipeline for Stone and Jones over the radicalization of their followers. "Could it progress to potential charges? You bet," he said.

In a Tuesday afternoon appearance on the right-wing cable network Newsmax, Stone hinted at the U.S. Secret Service possibly being behind the Capitol riot carried out by Trump supporters — while also giving air to the baseless theory that the FBI was behind the attempted insurrection. "The Secret Service does not do political chores. [They] do not perform logistical tasks. I find it rather suspicious," Stone said.
