Learning how much lollipop and veg a strain requires

This Gelato is turning out well. It's not like, wow, stand back. I just like the uniformity and overall shape of the buds that formed like a bulbous triangle. I like that. Can't really tell from the pics I guess... Gelato and Taskenti are physically similar but Gelato has a shorter flowering time. Pairing the two as veg neighbors and aiming to keep their nos. about the same.

Learning that Gelato and Grape Ape don't need much veg time to bloom pretty well, unlike most of my others. Using that info to proportion my plant nos.

Idk, I'm just happy with this Gelato. I think I'll mother its clone in a Big Mama Grodan block until all my Gelato are from the same source and seed line. Finally....

Pics not the best.... The plant's in like week 5. I'm in phase 5 feed, so probably around 5 weeks. Phases 6-8 vary in speed for this guy. And I thought Gelato and Taskenti would have a similar flowering time, but Taskenti's just chilling in phases 7/8 and building crystals. I'll wait....

My god you literally used a potato to photograph these :eyesmoke:

And where’s all the corks at ?
The Gelato plant's small and lolli-popped, it didn't need corks the whole way through to achieve decent spacing I was trying to create between branches/colas. Conversely, Animal Crackers (Thin Mint GSC x Fire OG) (smells, tastes delicious) requires more aggressive lolli-popping throughout flowering; and, consequently, its branches are longer and require more training; so, I might hang those mfers wearing corks. Also, I'm slowly replacing my cork population with 2-hole rubber stoppers and a spool of stainless steel for hooks, but thanks for your enthusiasm. This Gelato sits in the smaller of 2 bloom tents. Unlike the larger tent, I can't walk around 3 sides of the smaller tent. This one's been sitting to the far-right. So, I don't really mess with it unless I take it out to trim and then I would apply corks/stoppers. I'm sure I corked it initially.

And another compliment.... Thanks, chief, no potato; am I the only one equipped with a pinhole penis camera? That's as close as I'd come to a dick pic.... I guess there's a joke in there. Coincidentally, I recently replaced a shattered phone ... but I'm based when it comes to phones. I try to spend less on my potatoes/phones than my sneakers, which, like Bernie Sanders, I agree should be around $50. Ha. More importantly, nutes > phones.

By the time all my strains are the way I want them, I'll buy a camera worth capturing their image. Stay tuned, Brettman.

Oh, the aspirational 5. I've switched to perpetual, I need to resist the urge to fill seats as soon as there's a vacancy. Some strains, like Grape Ape, will get me 2+ with an untopped, short veg period. I have like 8 spaces for young plants that are untopped (up to another 20 topped spots, with room for 4-6 to finish on the sides since 66" lights are long). Right now, I put a few Bruce Banner/Bruce Banner 2.0 (some say Hulk Smash, but I don't think the difference is that noticeable) to make up for the topped, immature 3 I put into bloom too soon.

Also, I reduced strain count to 8, though there are still multiple sources and seed lines to work through.... While I'm doing that, I'm selecting a seed line to mother clones awhile, from a Big Mama Grodan block, until my clones are all that. I might have to adjust there if the mother gets unhealthy, but that's the plan. When you reduce strain count, the discontinued strains are tossed and/or flowered, not re-cloned. I tossed out a lot within the past 3-6 months. I'm focusing on 4 of 8, divided 2 veg areas and a 2-shelf seedling area organized by strain. Each of the main 4 get their own section ... I'll have enough mature plants in veg to increase yield somewhat. And I'm thinking perpetual increases monthly averages.... Also just added Power SI, already use Armor SI; and got some Myco Jordan. In other words, I'm focusing on roots, nutrient transportation, and resistance to stress. I'll probably see how much I can improve by the time I renew my lease in November, and then make some more improvements ... focus on CO2 and humidity in bloom tents. Idk, I guess when you suck there's always something you could be working on.

So, no, I'm not hitting the aspirational goal. But it is something I work toward. For now, F5; I'm fine with a 5k/month supplement.... Not far off, results from focusing #s on fewer strains, learning which plants do what, when + perpetual has been rewarding and, therefore, motivating.
