LED (2x viparspectra 300W) auto light schedule

Hello, this is my first post. I've gathered so much information from this site. I'll be working on some white widow autos and I've found a plethora of light schedule recommendations for various forms of lighting but I'm not finding consistent results when it comes to LED. As of right now, if I were to average what I've ready across all lighting styles when dealing with autos, here is what I currently think.

I should go with an 20/4 cycle throughout the entire growth period keeping the lights at roughly 24" from the canopy. The issue is this is based on some really silly logic... Most say throw as much light as possible at autos if energy consumption isn't a concern (I don't care how much energy I use). I've also heard a lot say 18/6 is the most common approach but they don't say if the 6 is because people don't want to use that much electricity. So I figure 20/4 is a nice happy medium.

I fear I'm overthinking this like everything else I try so what would be good solid approach given I'm running 2 300W viparspectras on a total of 8 white widow autos and I'm not worried about how much energy I use.

Thanks a TON in advance!

From what I've read most people actually use 18/6 for autos mate. I rarely see people use 20/4. From what I've gathered 20/4 isn't good and it stunts the plant. Someone else could give you more info though.

  • tbh honest ive always heard of autos being on ether straight 24 horus or 22/2 since there auto flower you dont wanna waste allot of time with them being in the dark, there not affected by the light cycle like other strains are. if your not concerned about power i would honestly go 24 hours. 18/6 is absolulty incorrect for auto's. Good luck

I haven't started yet, in fact I just put soil in the smart pots this morning. I'll start geminating this evening. I'm back to being up in the air about the schedule, there is no proof that darkness either helps or harms an auto-flower strain. I think I'll go with either a 22/2 or 20/4 cycle. I've been running the tent, lights, and scrubber for 2 days now and around 2pm I'm hitting 86 degrees so I'm thinking I'll go dark for a few hours during the hottest part of the day which would coincide nicely with a 20/4 cycle.
