Just thought I'd start a grow thread since I haven't in a while. I'm growing in a 4x2x5 tent. Currently growing Maui Waui and Ak-49 in soil used plantone during veg in 3 gallon smart pots and tomatone in 5 gallon smarties. Been having to use cal/mag and epsome salt Cuz they been lacking mag the last few weeks. Growing under a 400w HPS and a 600w 2x4 Vipar LED panel not sure how many actual watts it pulls from the wall I still haven't got a watt meter yet. I just got the vipar the other day and I just put it over one of the plants last night stoked to see how it does I've heard good things about these panels for a cheaper one anyway. Ill be rotating both plants under each light every week or so.
They're both 7 weeks into flowering tomorrow. I'll do a grow under just the LED panel on my next cycle to see how it does alone.

Lookin like a solid grow!! Maui Waui hey??? Only had that once....such a distinct oder....makes me wonder what the extract would taste like....*drool* :P

Keep up the great work mang!

-4th picture looks like the top of the plant may have gotten too hot. I wouldn't get overly concerned on remedy, just keep temps under 80 and flush em real nice!!!

:D

Beautiful plants I must say, I'm especially interested on how this turns out as I plan on supplementing my 600w with a 180w Apollo UFO LED....again, nice grow!

Ever since I saw half baked and I see the bricks of Maui Waui I've wanted to try it so I'm gonna in a few weeks haha. Yeah I wanna make some bubble hash with the trimmings from it. Yeah that's what I was thinking too I forgot to move the light up some, but some of the leaves were fading to light green in the middle so I thought I'd give them some epsome self every other watering or every few so I don't over do it and ph'd at 6.5.

Thanks, yeah I've been wanting to make the jump to LED but don't want to spend a arm and a leg for one so I read and read and read some more and saw that these panels do pretty good for the price.

Vipar does good shit im running one of their panels atm. They pull between 50 and 65% of their rated wattage. Mines a 300 its actual pull is around 185.

Oh cool glad to see someone else using one too. Yeah that's what I've read too, and this guy I asked that was selling one on eBay he said the panel I got was pulling 400w so I'm hoping around there keeping my fingers crossed, I'll get a meter in the next day or so to see.

Well i pulled just over a pound and a half last january with it and one other led. I think somewhere between .9 and 1.4 g/w the two harvests ive run it.

Yeah I think within the next two years I will have completely switched to LED's...I would sooner, but as you said Nvh, the initial cost is fairly high.

Yeah no joke huh, I'd like to get the top of the line panels maybe one day but not right now to spendy.

Everything is looking good so far with the Vipar, I haven't moved the plants yet. Currently the Ak-49 is under the vipar and the Maui Waui is under the HPS I'll switch them tomorrow and let the MW be under the LEDs for a few days. I'll post a update and pics later this weekend. Happy Friday and roast a big one!!:bigjoint:bongsmilie

I run a 300w vipar with the 5w diodes i think, along side a 600w hps in the same tent. Everything under the led gets both led and hps light and is definitely frostier than the other side of the tent, which only gets hps.
Pics later, im at work.

Sweet man, yeah I'm stoked to see how this panel works out for me. I know they arent the greatest but a lot better than a lot of of other cheap LEDs.

Those vipar lights are just rebranded Chinese lights very low efficiency.
Yeah they might be but they're better than a lot of cheap ones out there. I don't have the money to spend on a top notch panel right now and I'm just getting my toes wet with the LEDs, I think my next one I'll make a COB fixture. But the vipar will work for now and it seems to be working well, the girls are swelling up nicely under it.
