LED question?

Im still kinda a new grower, and I've never grown with LEDs but I really want too. I've grown under a 400w hps a few times and I am currently. I have a 4'x2'x5' tent. I've been looking at a lot of different LED panels and I really like what I've seen from the Area-51 RW-150 do you guys think that panel would work in my tent? With like 3 small plants max? I've read a few threads about making my own panel but kinda hesitant about it, not sure how hard it would be to put one together. I just don't wannt spend a ton on a LED set up. Any input would help. Thanks!

I would get two RW75s for better coverage. Consider the distance requirement between canopy and light. But, if you're doing HPS, headroom shouldn't be a factor.

I'm confidant enough to show you how to rig it all up... I've made a few panels, nothing noteworthy, but I understand how it all works... IMO the RW-150 may be enough but it'd do better alongside another

Yeah the head room shouldn't be a issue I've done two grows so far with the HPS in a 4' tall tent no problem just got to keep the plant short

yep in anchor town.... I've only ever built with cheap Chinese shit.... Same principals though
Are you using those now, I'm really thinking I could make one I know so far they're the best out there. How many COBs should I get for a 4x2 aera probably like 3 or 4 plants max I keep them short and bushy?

4 to 6 running at 1400ma.
(Me doing math in my head) @ ~1400mA & @ ~ 39V => ~ 225W - 340W, depending on whether you use 4x or 6x COBs.

I'd go for 6x COBs if your raising 3-4 plants. That comes out to 340W / (2ft x 4ft) = ~ 40 W / sq. ft. (A decent number).

I'd think about heat mitigation, as 2x4 isn't that of a tent for all that lighting and equipment, not mention the plants (depending on height of tent).

It's a 5' tall tent. Currently running a 400w HPS in it right now with a 6" 400 cfm inline fan running less than 50% and its 73degrees in the tent at canopy height

How many cobs would I need for like 3 plants? I'm new to LEDs so I'm a noob to all the lingo and numbers part and have no clue on how to set it up or what to put the lights ok but I'll do my homework and read a bunch on them and see if I can do this haha.

To at least match the 400HPS, I think 4 Cree cxa3070 should easily do the trick.... Your tent might run 68-70F or less....
You'll need
-cobs
-driver(s)
-heatsinks
-frame/housing
-thermal paste/adhesive
-soldering iron and beginner skill
-12v DC fans to match heatsinks
-small amount of wiring
-drill with small metal boring bit
- small screws to hold cobs to heatsinks and heatsinks to frame

maybe a few more odds and ends but not much...
brings me back to this
I just don't wannt spend a ton on a LED set up!
maybe weigh out the cost of this adventure versus 2 RW-75's....

I'm running 27 watts sq ft.
