LEDs and my Auto friends.

After 10 years of growing autos under a 600 hps, I’m ready to go LED. My current light came from HTG (not even sure that’s their name anymore). It’s adjustable from 250-600hps. The bulbs I use are ipower from Amazon. They’re like $20 and work perfect.

I’m looking for a 4x4 footprint. Room is 6’x6’x6’. Running 9 autos in 3 gallon containers in dirt. I do NOT want to DIY.

I don’t need/use high dollar equipment. I just need it to WORK. Not impressing anybody.

Need some HONEST feedback. Can someone out there point me to a low end, average, and high end unit. Or point me to a thread that already goes over this in simple terms.

Not real interested in learning about, fans, and boards, and soldering.

I’m really looking for something that will duplicate my 600 hps with less power consumption and less heat that works. No bells and whistles needed. I want to hang it and plug it in. One light from seed to harvest.

Thanks

Thanks Budz. I’ll check them out. I know I could go lurk around, but don’t want to spend too much time learning them. Too much on my plate atm.

I want someone to jump in and say,” I'm doing the same as you and here is what I use. Bought it here, works great, and it’s plug and play.”

Plus, I don’t want somebody’s energy, sweat, and time that has been through this already to go to unnoticed.

Going to check out hlg.

Believe the HLG 560 is 4x4 flower and 5x5 veg. $600+ maybe but really good light. I have x4 135 watts for my 4x4(each suitable for a 2x2). Cool to the touch, bright as all hell. Strong and sturdy but very lightweight. I love them.

Hey there HighLow... I have done a ton of research on lights and LED in particular. Here are my suggestions for you as of right now. If you want to keep it cheap and simple... look at the Mars Hydro SP250. 2 of these should be perfect for a 4x4 and each is going to be pulling around 220 watts from the wall. They are dimmable if you remove the driver but i wouldn't personally bother with that... id just move the lights up or down. I believe these lights run around $260 each.

another very nice budget option would be the spider farmer 4000. it is a quantum board type light that would cover a 4x4 all by itself. It runs about $570 and pulls about 455 watts from the wall. You could also get 2 of the spider farmer 2000 lights which would cost about $40 more but the advantage is you could run 1 light to start and then turn on the other light when you need it. these lights are exactly what you would think... half the size of the 4000.

if you wanted to bump up to what i consider mid priced LED's you can go with an HLG 550 v2 R spec light. it is pulling around 480 watts max, is dimmable down to around 240 watts. it is using all top shelf led diodes and in my opinion is really a top shelf fixture but is priced around $850 which in my mind puts it in the upper mid range or lower top range of pricing. if you want best bang for your buck but still want all high end components this is the light for you.

If you want to go all out start looking at bar style lights like the Growers Choice ROI-E680 which is a 680 watt led that is dimmable and will fill up your grow space footprint as it is over 40"x40" in size itself. it will allow you to drop your light lower to the canopy and run lower watts... or just run it high and go full blast at 68-0 watts. it will run around $1000.

You can go crazy from there. Green Sunshine company Electric Sky 300 is a great light that it dimmable and is very popular. you would need 2 of them but i think they run around $800 each.

There are going to be cheaper Amazon budget lights out there but honestly they won't be as efficient. If you can't go with the spider farmer or Mars Hydro sp250 price lights then you are better off sticking with CMH or HPS... They are old tech but still affordable and work great.

I'm a noob in LED but looking at this one that was listed in another thread. It's close to a 4 x 4' coverage that I'm looking for also. I've just never heard of them before so not sure if the light is legit.

Don't rush into it Buddy as there is plenty of options out there some good some bad. If I was you I would go for a dimmable Quantum Board LED as they are currently one of the latest offerings that you can purchase.
