Lighting up a small veg tent.

well I have decided to set up a small veg tent.
I have a trash can set up that I built for shits-N-giggles. It works very well. But by design it’s a pain in the ass for me. Lol.

I like to tinker and try different things. So over the years of changing and playing with my grow rooms. I have a “selection“ of lights to choose from.

right now I have just a single 100watt cob in my “ trashcan” thing.

My new tent is a little odd size. But I think it will complement my 3x3 flower tent just fine.
It’s 20”X 36” X 62” high.

For the sake of more info
I start seeds in 1.5” rock wool cubes
Then in red solo cups for 2weeks
Then into 3 or 5 gal 100% perlite hempys
6-8 weeks from seed then into the flower tent.

I am contemplating cloning off my plants before they go into flower and stop cracking seeds and just stick to 1-2 strains.

here are my light options.

2x Mars hydro 100watt single cob

400watt MH

2x 250watt CFL 6500k

T5 24” 6bulb 144watt 6500k

what would you put in it?
I know they will all work. Just looking to have a discussion

Any reason you don't want to go with an LED?. It looks like you are already have a Mars Hydro product. I have one of their TS series LED and it works well and I have had no issues. One of the smaller ones like the TS1000 are pretty cheap, would work fine in that size tent, would run cooler and use less electricity.

I think leds would be good. Just trying to decide what to use.

If you already have these, this is what i would use. 40w/sq ft should do nicely for veg.
Yes I have these ones kicking around.
But to he honest I have trouble keeping the trash can thing warm enough with one of them.
might need to put a small
Heater.

Well if your going for a small space, definitely want to look into LEDs for their higher efficiency so less heat.

Where are you growing? Outside in a garage or something?
it in the bacement of the house. I have a extra room. That Part of the house is below ground cement foundation.
Anyway it stays cool. 65*F. My trashcan thing works good at 75F. But if I set my controllers to 80F-85F. My exhaust fans don’t cycle enough IMO. I don’t think I am getting enough air exchanges threw the day.

75 should be fine for veg.

My flower tent is all Cobs. I run at 82-84 and 60-65% humidity. I do lower those gradually towards the end. Usually 75-78F and 35-40% RH by the end.

Really? I always thought you needed to be warmer. Especially with led and leaf temp.

eveything is growing fine at 75 but wondering if it would be better at 80-85
For flower its important to keep temps up but i think they will veg just fine at a lower temp. You could always toss one of these bad boys in.

I have a 400watt MH with a dimmable ballast. I just don’t know about the heat. In that small
Of a place. Might need a air cooled hood.
Yeah you could get a 250w mh bulb if the ballast dims to 250..... Running a 400w bulb at 250 isnt a good idea from what i understand.

The ballast dose 25% 50% 75% 100% then super I believe.

75% would be 300watts. Could a 250watt MH bulb work on 300watts?
