do we all know the diffrance tween magnesium and manganese??????
I think it is manganese...imho

Manganese Mn - Symptoms...Manganese deficiency is generally found in the young leaves. The leaf tissues turn yellow and small areas of tan/brown dead tissue appear in the middle of the leaf. The leaf veins usually stay green. The leaf becomes outlined in a ring of dark green along its margins. Too much manganese in the soil causes an Iron (Fe) deficiency. In addition the plant shows a lack of vigor.

Magnesium Mg - Symptoms...Magnesium starts in the lower leaves. The veins remain green while the rest of the leaf turns yellow, exhibiting chlorosis. The leaves eventually curl up, and then die. The edges of affected leaves feel dry and crispy. As the deficiency continues, it moves from lower leaves to the middle to upper half. Eventually the growing shoots change from pale green to white color. The deficiency is quite apparent in the upper leaves. At the same time, the stems and petioles turn purple.

Dude said it earlier. Foliar feeding with kelp can help with micro deficiencies. It's bomb stuff, has lot of growth hormones and vitamins, too.

Thanks for all the info everyone, here are some pics of tonight. In these pics you can see the progression, I haven't cut back the dying leaves in a few days.

I think george xxx may be onto something. Try cal-mag? cn

<edit> that can't be right. You dolomited your soil. Maybe too much? It's apparently some sort of lockout, but I can't say what. cn

the reason that I say that it is manganese and not magnesium is just for the fact that it isn't starting around the leaf margins at the edges and not really showing interveinal chlorosis. and since you planted with lime, mg and ca aren't usually an issue.

I don't feel like I used too much, but then again I didn't measure lol. I just put a couple of hand fulls in with my 3 gallons of soil then mixed. What are some of the effects of using to much lime? (besides lockout lol)

lime causes the pH to climb, but acts as a buffer when you add water that is lower in Ph. As the water drys out, the concentration of lime goes up and it helps to keep your pH stable at what ever level you set it at. So as long as you checked your soil pH after you added the lime, you should know if you added too much or not.

A coupla tablespoons per gallon are the usual dosing*. "A couple of handfuls" could be ten times that much. I'm worried that you might have lockout from overlimed soil, which will lead to high pH and associated ion imbalances. I would repot in gently limed soil. (*Please look up the usual dosing ... I don't trust my memory. When you prep your new soil, be sure not to overdose.) For the probable Mg def, I'd water with cal-mag or epsom solution once you've repotted. cn

I thought magnesium (Mg) first started in the margins around the outside of the leaf? this is starting at the tips.

I don't really see any leaf margin discoloration..it's tips to leaf node...and it's mostly on the upper leaves in these pictures.

have you even tried calmag yet, enough people are saying the name, i just tried it on my fucked up plants....well see in a few days time wtf else is wrong lol
