Ok, so figured I’d start up my own Grow journal on here now that I’ve got everything up and running.

Disclaimer: This is a legal grow, consistent with my state laws.

So first, the girls (from Left to Right):

I have

-5 Skunk #1’s (a beautiful pinkish pistil pheno that I grew from seed last outdoor season, cloned, grew inside for a few runs, then grew outside again this year and again Monster Cropped)

-1 Blueberry Kush (got a clone from a friend this past spring and grew her outside this year and again Monster Cropped her)

-3 WiFi OG’s (grew from seed this year outside and Monster Cropped)

-1 Granddaddy Purple (got a clone from the same friend last year; also a Monster Cropped clone)

-1 Super Skunk (a clone from one of the very first plants I grew from seed back in 2016 and have kept going there since because it’s one of my all time favorite strains, Monster Cropped)

-1 Candida (a clone from a plant I grew outside from seed this past year, Monster Cropped)

I have a pretty cheap Vivosun tent, but have retro-fitted it by lining it with Orca Grow Film.

I have also upgraded my light this time around from a King Plus 1500W to a Timber 4vs; which I LOVE so far!

Final upgrade this time around is I built myself a DIY Auto Watering system. I love growing and spending time with my plants, but I’m also into efficiency and streaming my growing. I’ve also had bad experiences with trusting others to water/take care of them when I’ve been away and this system will allow me to relax and not have to worry about them getting watered.

Thanks for checking out my journal. Stay tuned for updates as I go along.A43B3439-7402-4C59-89AF-85BBE13D911E.jpeg

Well it’s been a few weeks and the girls are doin great! Also picked up a couple Lambsbread clones (actually from a seed that I traded to a friend in exchange for the Blueberry Kush clone from this past year), which I’m psyched about! Bought some seeds last year that were supposed to be feminized and popped one, of course assuming it was a female. Grew it out into a beautiful big plant, only to have it turn out to be a male!

By that time I had already traded one of my other 2 seeds away. Luckily it turns out that seed wound up being a female, and I was able to trade for the other bigger WiFi clone and a Skunk1 clone.

So now the plan is to keep both of the Lambsbread’s, both BBK’s, and only one of the Skunk #1’s, and one WiFi OG (as those 2 plants are far and away the furthest along).

I’ll now have 9 plants that I’m gonna flower and will give the other Skunk1’s away, as well as the other Wifi and BBK clones.

Oh yeah, did I mention the plants are loving the Timber?! Got it on full blast at roughly 36” from the canopy and the center reading is just a little over 600 PAR. Definitely the strongest light I’ve Vegged under thus far, but again they are loving it and growing awesome. So no plan to change anything for now.

Sorry for the lack of updates lately, will catch anyone who is following up.

The first picture here is from December 3rd, about 5 weeks in the tent. You can see here that I had transplanted most of the plants that I’d be keeping in the tent to flower into 1 gallon Smart Pots. I had also given away all but 1 Sk#1.13BEA481-EDB7-4A25-8EF9-E157D7D25ECD.jpeg

Second picture was taken on December 12th (1 week later). Here I had just put my home made SCROG into the tent to let the plants start to grow into it. I had also gotten every plant into at least a 1 gallon Smart Pot and had even put the 3 biggest plants into their final 3 gallon Smart Pots.9180711E-2603-45A6-AB4A-05E1AB3F00C7.jpeg

Third picture was taken December 17th. You can see the plants are really starting to fill out the SCROG at this point and all but the 3 smallest plants are into their final 3 gallon pots.

In hindsight, what I should have done was to put the smallest plants into the largest pots sooner to hopefully allow them to catch up with the largest plants (at least some anyhow). Oh well, the goal is to learn and improve every grow, right?BA48487E-B28F-434F-8BD4-30E2ED823A73.jpeg

Final update picture was from this past Sunday (December 22nd) and it was on that day that I decided that the SCROG was as full as it was gonna get without becoming overly crowded in other parts, so I decided to flip them.

Overall, my experience with the Timber 4VS in Veg has been awesome! My plants were healthier and grew faster than ever before.

Now that they’re in flower, I can’t wait to see what they can do! Hoping for a solid Gram per Watt of yield. CC71830A-6E08-4FC8-BE31-C10494AD98FA.jpeg

Well folks, the plants have been in flower for a little over 2 weeks now and they have all stopped stretching.

Phew! The Lambsbread had me a little worried there as I’ve never grown her and the people over at Nukeheads where I got the seeds a couple years ago had no idea what I even meant when I asked how much the plant usually stretches in flower, kinda tells you all you need to know huh?

Now all the girls are working hard on building their beautiful flowers. Already starting to see some colors in the Skunk #1 and Wifi and the leaves on every plant are already starting to develop visible trichomes, especially the BBK and GDP!

I am beyond psyched at how this Timber is doing so far!1A7C7BF2-6015-4EA4-98AF-6DA1AD395716.jpeg975F00D9-8DD3-449A-B698-61B810404E3C.jpeg50260004-FADC-460B-A16D-B369EBCC228E.jpeg

Subbed! Nice work so far, your plants are looking healthy :)
Thanks for the Sub Hust! Yeah, plants are absolutely loving the Timber and the Orca is really maximizing its efficiency.

Every Day I open the tent I can see noticeable developments in the flowers and Trichome production!

Thanks for sharing I've wanted one of these lights for a long time
Thanks for following along Double H!

Yeah, I was eying the Timber’s for a couple years before I could finally afford one. So far I am 110% happy with my purchase. If you ever have the means to pick one up, I’d definitely give them a roaring endorsement!

I’ve only ever grown with low budget equipment before or outdoors (in not the greatest climate), so the health of the plants, and the speed of their flower and trichome production is blowing my mind! I can see noticeable differences on a daily basis. Can’t wait to see the finished product!

Thanks for coming along for the ride guys!

Here are some pics from yesterday for you guys who are following along.

So far the Wifi are winning in the colors category, while the BBK is ahead in the frostiness race, and finally the Lambsbread is definitely gonna win the biggest yielder award and is gonna have some big frosty colas on her.3F3D574E-D8FF-4EE8-A23B-04615A74B632.jpegB26436C7-1A19-4495-A752-2D1BB441A271.jpeg0143E9B2-7F07-4204-845F-AFBAFCEBC8F1.jpeg0774D6AF-BBE7-4EE3-A626-E4B50AF26494.jpeg476073A2-F712-42DA-BDDE-C7EBB979DAE2.jpeg

So fun!!! I had never really grown anything prior to my first legal grow back in 2016 when MA legalized for recreational usage, but man once I started I was definitely hooked!

I love 100% “zenning out” with my plants and training them, trimming them and honestly just spending time with them and looking at them (especially in flower).

Yeah, found out about Orca this past year and so far I love what it has done for my tent. Secret Jardin makes a tent already lined with Orca, but it’s crazy expensive. You could totally buy a fairly cheap Vivosun tent off Amazon for like $70-$80 and then buy a roll or Orca and a roll of the Orca tape and still probably wind up spending less than half of what the SJ tents cost. That’s pretty much what I did anyhow.

I actually wound up buying a second roll of each and lining my seedling/clone tent as well as it impressed me so much. Then I wound up giving a bunch to my best friend who also grows for his closet grow.

Great product, definitely would recommend it if you have the means and are handy.

Thanks for the sub! Will check out your journal.

Figure I’ll document my little seed sprouting experiment here too, in case it helps anyone else out.

There are so many methods of popping seeds out there and I’ve had successes and failures using many of them. But, just like my approach to cloning changed dramatically after seeing a video in Youtube by Cali Crop Doc which documented an experiment comparing cloning with a brand new sterilized razor blade and lots of time invested vs some dirty/unsterilized scissors and minimal time invested and showed zero difference in terms of success rate, time to root, or health of the clones, my attitude and goal has been to try to simplify and minimize the time required to do the more tedious and/or nerve wracking aspects of growing.

So, when I saw a recent video by Mr Grow It in which he tested the truth of whether the paper towel method was indeed faster and more effective vs straight to soil (both with and without pre-soaking) which showed that the straight to soil method was actually the fastest and had just as much success rate, it got me thinking whether I was over complicating things.

To test it out I decided to test putting some seeds straight into presoaked rapid rooter plugs and soaking some other seeds for 24 hours before putting them into the presoaked plugs.

Unfortunately my seedling/clone tent already has some clones rooting in my larger cloning tray and I didn’t have room for the second smaller seedling/clone tray/dome so I’ve got them rooting in my closet under the basement stairs.

In the picture the row closest to the camera are the seeds that I just stuck straight into the plugs and the back row are the ones I pre-soaked.

The first seed to sprout was actually the back second to the right seed (a Dinamed CBD Plus). However, after that the Dinamed in the front, Acapulco Gold in the front (bottom far right) and Mazar I Sharif (bottom second to the left) all sprouted and seemed to be more vigorous and shed their seed shells more easily.

Next was the Acapulco in the back right spot, then the Mazar in the back, and most recently the Jamaican Shipwreck in the bottom left spot.

So, so far my experiment is confirming what Mr Grow It experienced and suggests that putting seeds straight into already soaked/moist media seems to be the fastest, least complicated, and equally effective method of popping seeds. Will keep updating though as time goes on to see what happens with the second JS and the 2 Pine Tar Kushs which haven’t sprouted yet.C5DFADD1-8902-4967-979A-BEB463EA2F7C.jpeg
