Just hoping to hear from some neighbors here about what strains have done well for you, and maybe look to swap some strainage down the line.
Coastal or Inland?
I’m a couple miles from coast, have greenhouses, transfer outside when warm enough.
Working on Durban Poison, Kwazulu (both, at least originally, S. African landrace Sativas), and some Freakshow (just for fun?).
The DP and KZ are said to do well in milder climates, and really tall. Going well so far.

You can choose almost anything where you live. I’m in Cali, but at 4k feet. Indoor is my only option.
Sierras, huh? Great stuff there with the right strains.
Read a magazine-type fluff piece on Shapeshifter (no offense meant by fluff-piece!) the breeder of Freakshow- says started in Santa Cruz but at some point moved to the Sierras and realized Sativas didn’t do great in the altitude so he crossed one of his favorite Hawaiian Sativas with just enough Indica to adapt it to the Sierras. Sorry, forget which strain.
I started early here and have a heater in my main greenhouse to take the edge off night temps. Should be fine to do without, soon, but won’t move outside until consistently in high ‘50’s. You’re right though- with the not too drastic temperature fluctuations here, plants that adapt don’t get surprised too bad, except in January February cold-snaps.
