Messed up oil or fixable?

I used around 60 g's and decarbed in the oven at 220f for an hour then cooked at the same temp in oil in the oven for two more hours. Seems like the thca didn't convert.

The oil should be around 63mg a tsp of thc but now doesn't seem so at all. Is there any way to activate the oil after it's been separated from the plant matter or did I miss it all up?

i thaught the decarbing was done in the cooking time with the oil, not decarbed then extracted, i could be under thewrong impression

I really hope I didn't mess up but trying to fix it. Looking for advice. I wanted to point out that the bud still was pretty green even after decarb so I think I needed a higher temperature.

I decarbed at 240f/115c for 40 minutes in an oven with an oven thermometer

Your heat exposure may be a bit long and I believe I have read that it may be more cbn/cbd which still has medical application
Careful on any more heat exposure, I think thc evaporates at just over 300f/149c so you should have something just more on the sleepy side

Ever consider cold ethanol extraction, easy and you can use the tincture to infuse many products once you get the hang of it

Haha I usually make very pure and strong tinctures, but was trying to infuse into oil. I guess I am hoping to still make the oil work. It never went high enough temp to waste it. It was 107c

I just reduce my tincture right into the oil using a double boiler methodIMG_20201110_092139.jpg
Just reduce the tincture to about 10ml then pour it on top of some oil in a beaker/jar and finish evaporating the alcohol, mix and your temps never go above boiling point
I'm just getting into molecular gastronomy and use coconut oil and an infused simple syrup to make all my edibles
Recent medical issues have me giving up smoking and minimal coconut oil usage so I rely on the syrup

So reducing my tinctures down and adding to oil seems to be how I'll try in the future. Seems this batch is a goner.

Not a goner, you may have a sleepy base oil
If it is coconut oil it should store in the fridge, next attempt just use that oil
How much oil did you use for the 60 grams
Do you mind if I inquire about your filtering method with your tincture

It isn't sleepy. I just tried it today and it is super anxiety causing but most likely because I had too much. I had a teaspoon in my coffee. Seems to be working alot better than the other day. I did a second processing and got butter. I don't feel the butter but the gf had one chocolate muffin I made and I ended up pretty much hugging her to make her feel ok the rest of the night until 3am.;-) Meanwhile I ate 8 and felt nothing but that gives you a tolerance idea.

For my tincture I use an Indian tea filter my friend brought me. I always have a residue of trichomes leftover but most likely because the strongest alcohol we can get here is 80% while ideally the best way is with Everclear for more full infusion.

Sounds active to me, anxiety is a good indicator of a green out
Processing temps and times are so varied by method and strain that unless you burn it to a crisp (joints excluded) there always seems to be something from the extraction
For extraction I stay on the cold side using ever clear 190, but psychedelic Sam has a good 151 proof method that basically has you reducing and removing water

Right now on a mission to remove as much cannabis taste from my edibles, I just made a peach sorbet with an infused simple syrup that has barely a hint of cannabis taste
A water cure and cold extraction have greatly reduced the taste and my syrups and coconut oil are much improved

Recent apple pies had no detectable taste, the spices and reduced apple juice added to the syrup masked the cannabis well

At those times and temps, I’d say it decarbed.

Is there any way the quality claim of the feedstock might have been optimistic?

You're right.. not sure why people continue to decarb twice.
When the first batch is not potent then I use the infused oil to start the next batch. Double infusion this way increases potency but it is a diminishing return.
