My simple auto irrigation

Hey guys, just sharing my auto irrigation system. Just love it so much I gotta share!

Set to water once a day for 42seconds while roughly coverts to 640ml for a 10-20% drop off. (I’m growing in coco)

Punctured a hole into a food grade pail and added the input tube to the nutes.

Everyday at 10pm, it auto waters my beautiful Bubba Kush, currently on her 1st week of flowering.

Thank you!

Nice job, what pump and timer are you using? I was thinking of making one for coco with basic pump and control flow to ensure correct quantity but timing would be by the minute. Also prefer how yours feeds from tube rather than submersible. Thanks

I am using a brandless OEM auto irrigation that I bought online. No timer needed, the system pumps by seconds set.

That’s great to hear man, if you’re pumping by minutes, I recommend you get a mini sprinkler that allows you to adjust the amount by tightening the top. Calculate to see how many ml fed by 1 minute and adjust accordingly.

Definitely man, it saves a lot of time especially if you have multiple plants.

I noticed your res is not light proof mate. The res will be more stable and sterile if you light proof it. And you might want to look at some kind of aeration and mixing inside your res if you don't already. You don't want it just sitting still

I have an auto irrigation system set up for my 4 plant grow and I'm using a 100 litre heavy duty storage container with a wave maker for the mixing

Do you have a link or any info/ sellers etc for that system so others could buy?
Found it on ebay and amazon, but it has some bad reviews. "It pumped 5 gallons of water into my grow tent and flooded it horribly."
Lot's of this stuff out there, search for automatic watering or automatic irrigation etc.

Thanks for the advice, how does light affects the nutrients by the way?

Would adding a mini water pump just to move it around work? How long should I be aerating or should I leave it on 24/7?

Thanks!!

Yes this is the one I’m using. You have to test and try to see how much water is it pumping per second and then calculate how much you wanna feed your plants and set the seconds of feed time you require to reach the proper feeding amount.

Light won't affect the nutrients but anaerobic bacterial will grow if there's light and in the dark it won't.

A small pump will move some water around but a wavemaker is heaps better. You can pick them up on Amazon for 20 bucks. The cheap ones do fine. Yep you want 24/7 for the mixing and aeration, I never turn mine off.

Just bought and installed the wave maker!
Also, does this solution help with keeping nutes in darkness? image.jpgimage.jpg

Good job mate.

Yes that will def help thats pretty much exactly what I did for my first grow.

When you are in full flower 1 plant can drink that whole bucket in 2 days. That's pretty much the reason why I swapped the bucket out for a 100 litre heavy duty storage box. If you ever do change up to a storage box go for the heavy duty ones, I tried the lighter ones and they don't hold up under the weight.

It’s cheap yet efficient!

I’m growing in coco, would that make a difference?
It’s a 19 liter bucket. I calculate by 10-20% drip off, the nutrients I prepared are about 15 liters. What size pots are you growing in?

Thanks for the tip brother, will look into it!

Thanks for sharing this. I had to work away from home in another city, i was growing my plants back there and had to make do with cotton water wicks

They work okay for at max 2 weeks so id either have to travel back or let them sit in water by overwatering them but that led to root rot... absolute nightmare

I never bothered researching it until the root rot happened. Now im back home i dont need to worry but i wish there was a proper irrigation system with an app
