My town of Berkshire NY has "opt'ed in" to cannabis lounges and dispensaries.

Don’t be one of those guys. Cmon.
we already know cops are human.
I’m human too. And can honestly say I don’t drink if I’m driving. Simple way to mitigate life altering events. I’m a lightweight though. And I know I’m intoxicated after roughly 2.5 beers.

It’s a hard comparison to make IMO. Alcohol to marijuana.

I've been pulled over twice for doing 80mph, both times... One was a local sheriff the other a state trooper woman, the Sheriff was funny,

I said "Well, yah got me, copper...." he started laughing.
He asks, "do you know how fast you were going when I pulled you over>?"

I looked him dead in the eye and said "Exactly 55.."

He just laughed, looked at me dead in the eye and said "Slow it the fuck down". and let me go.

Yeh, I mitigate that by just not drinking, I drank for 10 years without getting caught in a DWI scheme. Plus I fly through the woods at 50+ mph on four wheelers, I am a daily smoker.. meaning, I get up in the morning, smoke weed with my coffee, smoke all day... and then smoke more at night.

At 53 still got all my fingers and toes, though I work with chainsaws and axes.... Usually, I do bong hits like, right before I go buck up a tree, and in between while getting gas and oil in the saw or sharpening. I keep a bong in my shop.

Once you get used to it, which I did a long LONG time ago. You know when you're too high to drive or not. and just because you smoked doesn't mean you're too impaired to drive.

There is nothing I love more than to drive my tractor up through the woods to go get some trees, in low second gear, just creepin' along, smokin' a J.... LOL!

I've avoided so many accidents that I know otherwise if I wasn't relaxed and high, I would have over reacted or some other damn thing.... The last time I was in the emergency room, was because I had a wood shard go through the tip of my fore finger that came flying off my woodlathe when I was making a bowl.... That was 20+ years ago... heh.

When you're being physical and you get high, you just get to lazy to want to pick up that chainsaw or axe, so you tend not to do so.

When you're driving it's a bit different you're just floating along... lah dee dah.... there isn't that physical restriction that a good indica gives when it nails you with that lazy side effect.

With sativa's though man I can sit there and buck trees for hours and hours, just so focused...

I think what it's going to amount to here is, and this was explained by our lawmakers, that if you are visibly impaired that you are open to arrest if driving.

Since there is no test, and drug recognition experts are "iffy" in a court of law. They are going to treat it like if you were impaired on over the counter drugs or sleeping pills and if you get into an accident after being at a "lounge" you're going to be open to all sorts of lawsuits.

Both the driver and the lounge who let them leave.
Ya that’s why I wouldn’t invest hard cash in that “bar/coffee shop” idea now…because it’s just an unknown and there isn’t a hard & fast 0.08 or equivalent rule…or as you say even a test. once it’s standardized maybe

good thread.

Netherlands do with no problems.

alcohol being what it is. Still found a way to be regulated and controlled. Even though we all know. Alcohol brings out the evil twin. Why I won’t touch the stuff.

1991 cannabis was still being imported over the border (CA PROP 215 Passed in 96) 2001 People were saying it would never stand growing recreationally. (CA PROP 65 passed in 2016) Now 2021 we’re talking about lounges/bars? 5-10 years. Cannabis friendly states will have fully regulated bars I’m sure.

Prolly a mix of a hooka lounge type scene and sit down bar.

Ya I heard about the Netherlands shops being successful. It’ll happen. For the US where I’m at I could see it starting in really densely populated areas like NYC/LA/SEA where people walk or use public transportation primarily

It could work out here in the sticks too... Nice country side, come and stay for the weekend, or the week.

I think a great biz would be a high-end B&B where guests came for a week or whatever and had pairings, music, massage, etc. like a posh getaway really tailored. Low volume but high margin.

That's Jamaica. It should be Puerto Rico, but they won't listen to me. I have even sent snail mail letters.

In the 70's a good little bar or tavern in the right location was considered almost like a little gold mine. Then the lawyers started sueing bar owners. To me there has to be a better, less libelous, way. I've always been intrigued by the idea of a bakery. For off premises consumption. Cherry Pie with cherry pie, know what I'm sayin?

100% looking forward to the lounge experience. Hope some of them offer some live bands and etc.
Every summer up here in Tioga Co NY, we have a thing called a blue grass festival, it's called the Busy Bird Blue Grass festival. 1000's of people show up in their campers and vans...

It's going to be VERY interesting. Especially since we've had Covid that has stopped a lot of people from coming. Once we get over that.. Holy geees!
