Mycelium?

Sorry but that is Dactylium Dendroides not mycellium. Commonly referred to as cobweb mold. A diluted 3% peroxide solution (1:10) lightly misted may help but its likely toast.

I had to deal with that fucker many times. There are ways to deal with it and can be fixed, shroomery has many solutions to offer. Iv seen people advice horrible stuff about it too like spraying it with pure alcohol.

To be accurate, yes, it is indeed mycelium. It just isn't the kind you want.

Scoop it out and treat the hole with something alkaline.

How you’ve managed to get mold on what appears to be pure, inert, vermiculite is mind boggling.
I think it came in the grain bag...the bag looked funky but I attempted to use it anyway...I had nothing to lose...it was a side project...it didn't work out...I'm not sweating it...its the 1st run I've lost to contamination...I hear it happens...oh well

The verm was spread out over top of the fucked up grain and it came up through

No...it was only like my 5th try at growing mushrooms...used the jar tek twice and the grain bag to bulk twice and those all went smooth and produced well...I just use midwest grow kits for my supplies and sporeworks for spores and try n keep it simple...these last grain bags I shot up with the spores and then around 40days later when usually they'd be mostly covered in pretty white mycelium they had the mycelium but also some funky lookin spots in there as well...I kinda knew then I was fucked but rolled the dice on em anyway to see if they'd pull through...busted up grain and mixed with the substrate and put the thin layer of verm on top...1st thing that started seeping through the verm was this cobweb shit...I think the grain bag was bad but I can't be sure
