Yeah, I have tried my best to stay away from the extra wiring of fans, though I do wish the new HLG480 had the 12v out like the 600. I also found that just applying Arctic Silver to the COB gave a few degrees cooler.

I am making some lights right now and can tell the difference with the cheap paste vs the Arctic Silver one. It seems thinner and less substantial. I havent tried any temps with it yet, since back gave up working already.

Application and paste, I think, have a lot more to do with how well a COB works.
I ended up with too much using this paste.
I moved the cobs around on the heatsinks to smear off the excess, then cleaned the sinks off.
The cobs (CXM22) have aluminum backs, but other than that I dont know their thermal resistance properties.

Good idea! Looks like it had a similiar effect to adding a MH to the end of a HPS grow. Nice color n frost!
You probably already know this n but be sure to dry those in the dark. Excuse me if I'm sounding dumb cuz I haven't followed along n don't know what you know. Personally I wet trim then dry.
Like your HO DIY stuff though. You do rock those big boy cobs something sweet in those hoods n fixtures you make. Props!

Thanks, @Hybridway , yeah the lights are off and I add the dehumidifier, so the room is at @ 70* or so and 55% humidity. I don't even have anything started for the next run, so the flower room is my drying room now.

Cool! I've used the de-hu in the drying room before. I found that 55% will dry them to fast. I now set it to 70% w/ non-direct air flow. 4-5 days on the line before its to dry, then I start the burping process for a few days to pop the smell n get a cure set in.
Nice work!

Non direct is the key.
I learned the hard way, but those are the lessons that you dont forget

I switched the Dehu to 60% and things are still drying. The room stays in the mid 60*.
I might have some THC tests done today from HPS vs COB. Even the trimmers noticed the LED side had more crystals.
Another area he couldn't believe was the vegging. The first room is the same clones vegged under LED's and the second pic is the T5 to MH for veg with same veg time. The second is also 3 weeks a head and has more plants per tray.
