New to Growing!

This will be my first time ever growing. I’ve been smoking for a long time and figured I’d try and grow some my self! I will be growing outdoors in Florida. I would greatly appreciate any information or any tips that any one can give me! Thank you in advance!

Honestly you will probably do better researching your questions on google then just asking people here.
Everyone here has a different style and method and if enough ppl chimed in, it would probably confuse you.
I studied for almost a yr...reading everything I could get my hands before I even attempted to grow (and this is with a hard core background of growing up on a farm with a huge garden)

Best of luck to you

I wish more people understood that they need to first learn to grow on their own and then come to places like this to learn different methods from others to see what works best for them.

For REAL! A person needs to decide do they want big plants or small, do they want to go synthetic or organic or synergistic? Super soil or designer dirts....it goes on and on and on lol. Too much and too confusing for someone who has never even popped a bean before ya know?

I totally agree! I see so many new growers go with coco, because people on forums talk about how you get better results, but then they treat the coco like a soil grow and then wonder why their plants look like shit. I honestly think every new grower should have and read an actual book on the subject before taking any advice from strangers on the internet.

I have been researching for a while and have an idea what I need to do. I just figured I’d ask what other people thought and what they did to have a successful grow.

When I was younger and lived in Florida, I germinated in late January and planted outside on my patio in February to avoid the brutal temps starting around May which allows for a wider variety of strain choices. I went with a smaller plant in a 3 gallon container but it worked well. If I were to do an outdoor grow and was just starting out, I would personally avoid planting in the summer, but it can be done well if you are attentive and have some experience. The daily afternoon showers and heat in excess of 90* really takes a toll, not to mention to close to 100% humidity periods after a storm, much less the hurricanes, so the strain selection is crucial. I would definitely select a sativa that is mold and pest resistant and mix neem meal into the soil at up to 10% by volume. Drainage is critical, use up to 20% EACH horticultural charcoal and 1/8/1/4" ground pumice, you want at least 40% of your mix to be chunks for drainage of the daily rains, so your bagged soil mix itself should not exceed 50% of the volume. You have to get the water out but this necessitates about 25-50% more frequent feeding. I hope this helps and I hope to see what you have grown budy.

Edit: *Rant Warning* It's absolute bullshit that the medical laws, among other states(Why I live in NH now), do not allow growing for personal use. It's a scam to have to pay the government for the privilege of obtaining a license and then only be able to buy from government approved dispensaries. What a total sham that poor people who can't afford the thousands of dollars needed per year for procurement of their medicine can't grow their own. Typical government and corporate collusion.

Well since you are new there are a few good pointers I can share to help out

1st is dont plant too early outdoors or your plant will flower early then reveg as the days get longer. Aim to keep them outside after may.

2nd dont skimp on amazing soil. The better the soil the better the plant. Also make sure if you are using small containers that its fabric and not plastic because outdoor plants get root bound fast in 5 gallon buckets.

And 3rd marijuana is a magnesium whore. Give them a tbs per gallon of water of epsome salts (it's not salt but just magnesium and sulfer) every 2 weeks

Do people grow guerilla style in Florida? Like in the Everglades or preservations
Yeah when I was a teen I had a really cool southern weed dealer who moved up from the deep everglades of florida... we were talking about guerilla grows (illegal at the time) and having dogs guard the plants, he started telling me about his swamp grows and how you would have to cross crocodile infested waters to reach his small grow island....

I always wondered what happened to him, he once whipped a loaded ak out from under his mattress during casual conversation, I didnt go back after that..

Not a good idea having dogs to guard plants, can draw people, walkers, hunters to their location.

If your plot is established correctly no one should ever find it.
