Hello all, these are pics of my NL5 plant that has been flowering under a 1000 watt hps for about 6 weeks. Today I noticed some of the top flowers withering a little bit. Does this mean it is time??

This is the only part I struggle with. This is my second grow, with the first one I know I cut it a little early but the larger tops were excellent, with some of the lower ones were not quite as good. I dont have a good scope to look at them real close. Do you know another way to tell?

You know there's no need to take the whole plant down at once, right? It's not unusual for me to harvest the "real" tops (top tops), then readjust my lighting and let the secondary growth benefit from a couple more weeks of better lighting before whacking it/them.

you should instinctively know these things.... just keep waiting and you'll feel when it's time.
but to answer, you could scientifically calculate when it'll be ready by the power of your lights and looking up the strain and time from of harvest.......................................................................................................k

Where did you get your seeds from? I'm growing the same thing from HighGradeSeeds and I'm at 60 days in flower. I got two phenos going and 1 of them is getting chop later tonight but the other looks like it could go cpl of more weeks.

You need to examine trichs under a microscope. Here's a hint: 100 plants are chopped too early for every one that's chopped late. When it doubt let it go.

I got these as clones, veged for about 5 weeks under 1000 hps and they have been flowering for 38 days. They have a lot of red hairs on them but it didnt come out in the pic, prob caus it was taken under the hps.

Really, everything I read from other people growing said about 6 weeks. I just got a little worried cause of the top of the flowers look like they are withering a bit. You can see it in the second pic.
Put thinks for the reply!!

Ahhh okay. Well I'll have to agree with the others^^^^and say you have at least 3 to 4 weeks to go. Just be patient man, all good things come to those who wait.

Peace and happy growing.

I'm a noob but I've read lately you want to wait until most of the "hairs" have turned red and have receded into the bud. You don't want them sticking out like they are now.

I went to Radio Shack and bought one of those 60X-100X scopes with the light and all thinking it would be great. But 60X was just to much for it, it had such a limited field of view that I could never get a good look at the trichs. I would get a great look than it would move or go out of focus. Then I bought a 30X loupe and LOVE it. I think a 45X Loupe (if they make it) would be best.

This is the one I have. Once you get the trichs in view, it is AWESOME, but I could never hold it still enough while trying to focus it to view anything for more than a second or two. Had a lot of issues with it.

I highly suggest a good ole' loupe. Cheaper as well.

Now that's awesome. I just went online and looked at those and could only find them in 35X. Is that what your is? 30X is enough for me. I just would just to view it on a screen and be able to take pics like that.
