NON-AUTOFLOWERING plants starting to flower & barely/some not even a foot tall?!?!?!

This is my 5th year to grow & I’ve never had anything like this happen!

I grow outside/NON auto flower. Growing White Widow, Critical Mass & Critical Mass CBD. All put in soil March 12th.

Just transplanted from starter cups to 15 gallon pots a little over a week ago. Most plants are between 8” & 1 foot tall (stretched due to cloudiness).

I’ve been FIMMing them, but not many have been splitting this year??

And, as of yesterday it looked like some new leaves were starting to flower, so I left them alone. Today, they REALLY look like they’re flowering (I didn’t take anything to photograph them with as I didn’t think I’d need to...will tomorrow). So, I was. Unable to FIMM any but the Critical Mass CBD, which did look like they were starting to flower, but not quite as much, so I took a chance. (my first year w/CBD)

How should I proceed? Should I stop pruning all together? I don’t prune after they start flowering, but they are usually several feet tall by then.

thanks for any suggestions!

I've had unstable genetics do this exact thing when I stressed them, even bending them has caused it. Usually got mine in bag seed but I'm sure there's plenty of sketchy breeders out there selling unstable genetics.
The times I've struggled with it they always seemed to just seem to flower and no longer veg so I started over. I guess it's possible for them to reveg and end up with success but my thoughts always been the it's equally possible they'll just finish off small and stressed out. I'm indoors though so I'm not sure how much this would set you back being outdoors.
All of this is my best guess of course, since I don't know where you got your seeds and I don't know your grow as intimately as you. Perhaps you have some pictures to help us on the web understand?

South Central Texas. Just started flowering and have a little over 13 1/2 hours daylight now. March 12th was 11 1/2 hours.

This is my 5th year to grow. I haven't done anything different. Makes no sense. We had just as much cloudiness last year, as I remember how stretched they were when I transplanted them.......and, they flowered at about 3-4 feet like always....

Anything else? I'll answer anything to find out. If they bloom now, I sure won't have much of a crop! :-|........ and, it's all three strains, too. Even the CBD. (I think those are supposed to grow the same. this is my first year with them)

This is just a guess but the fact that you chose a CBD Strain and possibly for other reasons those strains might have a high admixture Of ruderalis(which is high in CBD) and is not dependent on photoperiod to flower. Someone might disagree but all of the information u included leads me to put 2 and 2 together and say they are unintentional autoflowering phenos.

You're plants might be insensitive to light schedules and won't reveg until you have 14+hrs of sunlight. I've got several photo period "sac seeds" plants that have ILGM super skunk as the mother(hardy insensitive strain)that I've transferred outside that look like they're going to finish flower before they reveg. I share the same latitude and sunlight schedule as you.

I grew the same White Widow last year. Most of the plants are WW, so I can’t see why they would be any different. It’s my first year with the others, & may find surprises there. I got the CBD just to try due to illness; I make tincture and hash. Just curious to see if there’s any difference. I haven’t seen any help with pain; and, I specifically buy/grow strains with medical properties- many related to pain....I have a BUNCH of it :wall:.

with that amount of daylight, as xtsho has allready said, is the right amount of daylight hours to start flowering, nothing to do with ruderalis, thats used to produce auto flowering plants.
if your growing CBD strains, they are bred from hi CBD content sativa and indica dominant strains. of if there 1-1 or 2-1 thc / cbd, the plants of a sativa or indica with high cbd were crossed together to give you a mixture of the two

Thanks. I’ve never had this before. Why is it doing it now? I know climate change wouldn’t be this severe :o.

Interesting, today the plants that had the least amount of flowering were the CBD plants...LOL

thank you all for the information on the amount of daylight.

Can anyone tell me why this year is different from every other year? One of the strains *most of the plants*, White Widow, is one I’ve grown before-last year. So, I’m familiar with how it grows, and it didn’t flower & reveg last year. I’m stumped; even with all the answers. I know I’m not really educated on everything....just an old hippie growing my marijuana for my aches and pains and insomnia.... I read what I can, but am old school (as in don’t know all the terminology used these days).

Cannabis helps some people with pain but i hesitate in advocating it as a pain killer. It definitely increases appetite, suppresses nausea, and helps with sleep. Those three medicinal properties are reason enough for someone to keep it around. I hope you find a strain that helps you. Its truly a beautiful plant, but it has limits.

You're right. Like I said, I haven't found any that do help with pain yet. Even the ones that say they do. But, White Widow is easy to grow. That's why I got more of them this year. I got 20 of those/5 Critical Mass & 5 Critical Mass CBD to try.

So, maybe the CM will be better, but I doubt it. I've heard of people mixing them, but haven't gotten there yet.

thanks!

what people dont understand is that cannabis is not a pain killer. it partially blocks the receptors in your brain and limits the amount of 'pain feeling' going in. it makes it tolerable. cannabis also can help with inflammation which in turn will help with pain. lol. its a natural way to get by without having to take pills that damage your stomach lining and liver.

Have you had a good frost lately? I put my excess outside. This year I had 2 hard frosts in a row about 2 weeks after they went outside. Most of them bounced back after that frost burn. When they started growing again, they really bulked up and from 3 feet away they truly appeared to be in flower! I hope you can salvage your grow. Grow on...
They actually did not flower, but the excess growth was quite a shock as I figured them dead and gone.

There has been significant research regarding THCV and how it can help with inflammation. I have grown strains known to have high levels of THCV and did notice some remedy from lower back pain and sore muscles. But it's definitely not a true pain reliever. It can help but if you break your leg you're going to want more than a few bowls of weed.

"THCV can activate CB2 receptors in vitro and decrease signs of inflammation and inflammatory pain in mice partly via CB1 and/or CB2 receptor activation."

The last part is my intent . I’ve been ill & in severe. Pain since 1983, & have had to take more medication than I ever wanted to, so this is a way to at least try to not take as much.
The descriptions frequently list pain as something the strain can help; but, you’re rIght, it is from actually helping inflammation.

No, not even close to freezing. If it had gone close to maybe 39, I probably would have brought them inside. But, thanks for the idea.
Glad yours made it.

Not trying to thread Jack, but since when did GHS incorporate ruderalis into their WW?

Was considering running their gear but not anymore with that trash in it
