so they came in tonight and i will pick it up tomorrow.. i have all the tent gear the buckets...the nutes.. most of the lights (not all) all the hydro stuff and of course the timer and power bars....pics will come soon

the set up is as follows
2 CXA 3070 z4's running at 2.1Amps each built by the awesome SupraSPL(sorry for the name spam)
4 "26" watt (not too sure on actual draw) LED wholesale lights off amazon. 2 cfl lizard uvb cfls.. (may add more light if you guys suggest it to me).
2 5 gal crappy tire buckets with lids 2 plastic 3 inch pots (all i could find). dwc with 60 gal 2 output pump and 2 6 inch air stones. river rocks instead of clay balls (all i could find)

2x4x4 600D tent
6 inch hurricane fan and carbon filter
nutes GH hydroponics performance kit

strains ive decided on Joint doctors chronic ryder( seeds are a couple years old so who know what will happen) and depending on the seed store in town crop kings early miss or maybe white widow

Any advice tips or suggestions are welcome I will try to update this thread as much as I can as we go here.. the idea here is to be able to supply myself with somewhat decent grass at a fairly good price on electricity. and supplies.. it may take a couple grows to recover the initial cost of my set up but i think it will be well worth it knowing I control the quality of my product and i can change it at will.. also because of the stupid high premium I pay for pot because of living so far north that some of the roads I drive my semi on are nothing more than frozen water

thinking of adding a couple of those feir 20W 6000K lights to the grow as well. so total watts not including the uvb would be about 350W of LED.. 210W actual draw for sure 100W from 4 "26"Watt Par 38 bulbs and 2 20W Fier par 38 bulbs

Maybe the Fies are a good choice but you'd probably be better off looking into adding some 660nm into your mix. See Positivity's thread for a good example of that.

pics will be tomorrow promise.. the lights are in its just remembrance day (vets day), so im gettin drunk will pick em up in the afternoon after work.. have a 5 gal bucket going with a ghetto dwc and supras CXA lights for now.. seed hasn't popped yet it put it into a jiffy disc thing(yes i added water till it inflated) then set it into the dwc bucket yesterday. keeping the light on 24/7 to test for heat. i need to grab a 3 prong timer as the one i had for another grow is only a two prong

your gonna love the redneck LED light rig I made.. just wanna get all the lights set up before i show everyone my idea.. also gonna get another strain so if the chronic ryder seed doesn't pop (two years on shelf) then im gonna try for the crop king early miss seeds i ordered. though im gonna order some barneys farm pineapple chunk.. cause from what i seen even though it takes 13 weeks of flower.. (from light switch..which I dont do) or about 9 or 10 if you go from when pistils show. it gets massive so i may only do 1 in a 5 gal and veg it in a scrog. might do 2 depending on what i find for the scrog.

only doing the lowryders cause i have em around from a project way back when. dont care if they produce or not.. its kind of test strain i got direct from the breeder so it might do funny things even if it pops. gives me more reason to stuff a pineapple chunk in there

now this was just tossed together for you guys to get an idea.. i dont think ill keep my lights set up like that. i got home and kinda just tossed everything together so i could get pics, ill finish setting up everything all nice when i get more time.
LOL all you want its 300 or so watts that probably kicks any store bought units ass.. IMG_20141113_181955.jpg IMG_20141113_182041.jpg

those 2 cobs running at 2.1A is plenty of light for now, hell those few
PAR 38 bulbs are probably enough light for this stage in the game.

a lot of the light from your cob is hitting the PAR 38, so you may be
getting less light with those in the center. i would remove those until
they are needed, and when you put them back in, use a bathroom
vanity 3 light piece. look up item #: 122251 at lowes.

im gonna just mount them to the frame but so its flush with the cobs. and there is no such thing as too much light. also this was just tossed up in an hour or so the final light set up will be different

for one, photoinhibition. if you're using cobs you should learn about it.
for two, waste. if all the extra power you're running (essentially wasting)
isn't going to make your plant grow any faster, why waste it? conserve
that energy bro!

I suppose your right. I shut down the lights as i have some pineapple chunk(barneys farm) and white widow (seedsman) coming in the mail. besides it gives me time to set it up proper. not home much these days to do anything due to work. . oil country is busy up here in the winter..though its been odd as we've had a week of plus 10. and its usually -30 (Celsius). but yeah so ill update once of something to show.. and as for seedlings. im gonna keep only two of the par lights on.. though my crop king early miss came in..so kinda on the fence as to what i wanna grow.. only want two plants but was thinking of scro gging a pineapple chunk while testing out an early miss.. because those pineapples take so damn long anyway

UPDATES!
so I changed a couple things around and added some stuff also found out a few things

First off my PH is 7.9 from the tap and ful lof calcium so i ordered some GH micro hardwater and I have some PH down from a pet store. but it doesn't seem to be working as the PH just keeps going back up to 7.0. and ill get it back down to 5.5 with the ph down and 2 hours later its back up.. this is with a digital meter and using an old school chemical test...so what do i do? just wait for the hard water micro nutes and hope that works or try to source ro water?

I took down the CXA lights for now until i see nome nodes. i think the par lights are fine i might even only run 2 until it becomes a real plant. then when it gets bigger flood it with light...

I have some barneys farm pineapple chunk and seedsmans white widow coming too i think im gonna grow a pineapple chunk along side the early miss auto i have going now. I just hope i can figure my PH issues out. PPM is about 250 i think that should be good for an auto once it gets roots. im gonna airate the water till the plant is ready and keep trying to watch the ph to see if it regulates

Your water has high alkilinity. Alkilinity is a buffer that resists pH change. You may want to consider better water. I've had experience with this you'll end up using a lot of pH down

well it seems to have fixed itself and buffered out. the ph is now 5.9 and stays like that for about 4 days beofre rising up a point. but yeah im considering getting an RO system for my sink

stealth RO is quality and low cost. i've had two of their systems
now and loved both of 'em.

always adjust your water then wait 24 hours to see what happens.
