Hey all, I have recently pursued my medical marijuana license for a shoulder injury I received back in 2009. Initially was on muscle relaxers and a bout of physical therapy, the relaxers caused bad reactions and never really relieved any symptoms. The PT worked for awhile and the exercises kept me a minimum of strength, but after several years of natural degradation fueled by a couple of brutal summers working in a retail store room my condition has only worsened and any exercises only slow down the process. In the past eighteen months I have gotten two more scrips for PT (one in VT and just recently in RI), steroids - specifically cortisone is out of the question due to past poor reactions, as well as NSAIDs due to the nausea caused being just as bad as any pain being blocked. Currently my pain is a consistent dull ache that would rate a 3/10, any pressure on it or using it (especially overhead) a 6/10 and at least once a month I wake up in tremendous pain in my neck, back, and shoulders rendering me unable to turn my head more than 60degrees either way (9 or 10/10). I can no longer sleep on that shoulder or support my body for more than a minute tops before the pain becomes overwhelming. I would like to pursue a treatment of PT combined with MMJ to strengthen and relieve the pain. Today I went and had an X-ray to see the depth of the issue. Do you believe this is a valid case? If I do get approved I will be looking for a caregiver so feel free to message me.

Only a doctor can tell you if they feel it's a valid case.

I would see a doctor that specializes in cannabis recommendations. You're regular doctor might not be inclined to want to recommend cannabis as medicine.

I would check out B&B consulting (in RI) or CannaCare (in MA).

It's definitely a valid case. Your reasoning should be "Chronic Pain" and a "Debilitating Injury". It is your doctor's responsibility to help you - if something "does more good than harm" they are obligated (by the non-obligatory doctor's code) to help you. Just be honest with your doc and tell them that Cannabis is something that helps your pain and you don't want to be prosecuted for your use. Bring the paperwork and any additional information they may request. Make your case simple and concise but be prepared to answer questions. Don't use the word weed or pot or high; this is professional business. Once you get your RI MMP Card, you can feel free to DM me --- even better, DM me on Instagram @THCush and I'll see what I can do :) Good luck my friend!
