Oregon is busting at the seams

Was just watching Vice news and they had a part on Oregons cannabis legalization.

Oregons legal cannabis industry, 1100 licensed growers, is currently producing 2 times the amount cannabis that it's 4 million citizens can use.

It's so bad people and businesses that have spent 100,000 of dollars on opening their doors are going out of business. In just the short amount of time that it has been legal the price of cannabis has dropped by more than 70%, holy shit.

They didn't learn much from other states. Oregon has no cap on nonresidents opening up businesses. They also have extremely low cannabis business or growing license fees. Lastly they have no cap on the amount of people who can aquire licenses and open up businesses.

Personally I feel sorry for all the people who misread the signs and are now losing everything but I also believe that cannabis shouldn't cost more than prescription drugs anyways!

It's just the opposite here in NV. Yes, we haven't been legal very long but it's still $10-$17 a gram here, black market is thriving, so are retail sales. A lot of people are growing in the "25 mile halo", they don't give a shit. Tax revenue is 175% (est.) of projections. Tourists pay the high prices, they don't care. Even the damn licence growers are selling to black market outlets. I'm not sure if this is better or worse than OR but I know the quality is not at the retail stores. It's not shitty, just lacks personality.

This is because most rec growers (and I know a bunch) fuck up the dry/cure steps to get their product to market faster.

Farmers have been over producing the market since tractors were invented. The Fed pays farms to not grow crops for Christ's sake. The Hemp ball is rolling now, we went to a 400% increase in hemp acres last year locally and next year we expect about the same growth - then it will crash in 3, 4 years. It's the way it works. Keep the government out of it, it will settle, soon we will be able to sell weed out of state. ;)

Deals are to be made on used gear around here, all those people who thought they were going to get rich farming hahaha.

they are buying some weed there for less then 350.00 a pound.
I’m connected pretty well north and south with med and rec growers, I have not heard of anything going for $350.
The cheapest I’ve been able to source is $400 a unit for semi trimmed. It’s good stuff but you need to spend time getting it to final trim.

I’ll check around for Pinkleberry. But that’s a new one on me.
