I was growing as a licensed med grower for my wife (from home) for a few years, and then rec legal came and we dropped it. For a while, I was keeping up on what the laws were, but I don't recall a lot of the penalties being defined early on. I stopped following it, mostly we got lazy and thought, heck, no one is watching, no one cares.

I got curious this morning, and found the page linked below. Perhaps everyone knows this stuff and I'm late to waking up and smelling the coffee, but if you are not aware, this is an eye opener. They have definitely defined the offenses and corresponding penalties.

Good question.

Another question is has anyone heard of an average home grower getting busted for having too much of anything -- plants or dried flower -- and if so what happened?

It's almost funny at this point, I remember not long after OR went rec legal some guy out in the burbs was growing like 100 plants, and as I recall the cops told him to pick 4 and they took the rest, and no arrest was made. That was before any structure was defined. The article where I read about that (I think it was in the Oregonian) stuck with me, and my lasting impression was that home growing wasn't something to worry about. When I recently saw that something as simple as having too many plants could be considered a felony, that was different.

I live just across the border in WA. now, I’ve heard basically the same thing once. A friend was approached who had 40+ plants. Medical growers can have various numbers depending on need. 16 is the highest. Cop told him to pick 6 which is what his card said he could have and told him to tear out the rest. This happened a couple years ago. In Sept!! Would have sucked to destroy that many plants that late in the season.
I know another guy out in Clackamas co in the boonies that grows hundreds of plants right out in the open, lives on 5 acres and has neighbors has never been asked about any type of license.

keep your neighbors happy, live Nextdoor to a police officer. I grow my 4 outdoor full term, but keep a helluva lot more behind closed doors. Haven’t had a plant that yielded less than 1/2# outdoor in a long time. I think about dropping med card, but do enjoy the legal protections it affords me especially being a single patient grower not having to log to METRC

"Keep your neighbors happy" (or know your neighbors) is something I've heard before -- the police aren't doing random counts/searches, someone would have to file a complaint to get someone else a visit from LE. I grew with a med card for three years and then dropped it. I wish the doctors through our insurance plan could OK it, it's just wonky driving into Portland to go to some clinic to sign off on it for a fee. After we heard no one is really checking, we let it go.

I'm growing all autos now, so it's the equivalent of growing miniatures, in general I find mine are about 1/4 the size of photos I used to grow. It takes a bunch of them to get a good stash going, so I've been loose about numbers. At least they are so small I don't have to worry about them being seen over our six foot fence. They're mostly about 2-3 weeks from finishing now, so the smell is getting strong, but they're smaller than our tomato plants, they're almost "cute".

Oregon just decriminalized major drugs, it just doesn't seem like keeping track of backyard personal use cannabis growers could be something any agency has a budget for. It was still sobering to see how far the laws had gone.

Thanks, Tim

It is nice-looking and healthy, just wish it had gotten a little bigger before it started to flower, but that's genetics for you

Well looks like were going to have cooler temps for a few days and a little rain. But it isn't going to make a difference. It's going to be dry. I'm worried about fires as well.

I'm growing some auto's outside this year. I have a bunch of freebie seeds. Only 2 have come up so far so if the other doesn't pop I'll replace it with one of of my Durbistan F6 and hope for a female. If it's a male I'll collect the pollen. I also have an Ethiopian that survived all winter in the greenhouse. One thing is it never flowered. It's a female plant but it just basically stalled and did nothing. The main top died but the lower branches lived and it's a little bush now. I don't know what it's going to do but I'm going to find out.

This was a mutant that grew much slower than the rest. It never hit the flower tent with the others and I just put it outside where it did nothing. It's an odd plant. It's a year old. Maybe I have a non-flowering pheno. It does have female pre-flowering but I don't know why it didn't flower during the short winter days unless maybe the cold had something to do with it. Regardless, it's been around long enough to become part of the family so I'm going to give it some attention and see what she does.

Ethiopian Sativa

Saw this wonder in that other post where we talked about mold resistant strains. Really rooting for you to have found some sort of perennial strain- I would clone or try to seed it, personally. I might have to purchase some of that Ethiopian if you successfully flower that one!

I can still appreciate the OR threads as it’s not terribly off from where I am, and I wish y’all well during fire season.
