Outdoor Grow in Colorado 2021

I figured out how these growers outside in Colorado do this.
I first picked good outdoor strains i start 7 get 4 maybe. But the key is.
Start your grow indoors over the winter till May 26th 2021.
This is the Lunar cycle I go by.
I started December 14th full moon and will grow these 4 to 5 feet before I move them outdoors in May into 30 gallon buckets.
That gives them a full 5 month's growth before transplanting outdoors here.

So, on the flat, then...looking to move up around 9000’...guessing very different microclimates.

Pulling for your success: going with Afghan landraces?

I Am due to my Elevation Afganistan landrace do well here. I believe Pineapple Express will do well here. Green Crack outdoors should be big.
I also started a Hindu Kush.

It's a inside joke here among growers anything Orange is or Pineapple Tart Pineapple Express they say Pineapple from Pueblo is the best outdoor strain you can grow here.
I'm betting on the Hindu Kush doing well here outside

Boy been a bit here. They are looking green and healthy. Love this potting soil mix. I will be mixing 50/50 FFOF and Fertilomb into 5 gallon felt pots here Saturday. They need to have good root structure before transplanting them. Will update pictures Saturday.
all I give them is spray bottle water from Brita. No nutrients until after transplanting takes place. Really ready to see these Girls outdoors this year in 30 gallon felt pots. There going to be big by then.4 more months to go.20210102_091431.jpg

nice start .. you may want to plan for something bigger than 30 gals if you're starting them this early.. they'll outgrow those by the middle of june

I do the same as you, wait until late May/early June, but I don't even think about starting outdoor plants until around March/April now (clones transplanted and vegging). I don't like to grow huge monsters, so if you have the room and lighting available, go for it. Get them as big as you can handle.

Pay attention to your light schedule because certain strains can really freak out if it's not done right. I've done 24hrs, 18/6, etc over the years and I've screwed up some of them because of it, even waiting until after the days were getting shorter to xplant.

This year I've switched everything to 12/1 lighting, which is 6am on, 6pm off, 11:30pm on, 12:30am off. The hour in the middle of the night interrupts the hormones the plant creates to go into flower when it is in more than 6 hours of darkness. 12/1 is also a lot more closely aligned with the natural day/night cycles. Once they go outside, that 1 hour "lantern light" is removed and they will start to flower normally.

Some strains act really weird under 12/1, like my OG Tahoe clone, but it does work. Node spacing really tightens up and my plants have been stretching much less over the last couple of indoor cycles. I now flower indoor plants on 8/16 and it produces the same results I had prior. I'm really excited to see what it will do with outdoor transplants. Last year, we had such a short growing season in the mountains that most of my stuff had to come down before it was properly finished. (60 days frost free). I'm hoping this will make everything finish faster because that appears to be what is happening indoors after switching.

Hey Good Information. I really am not sure what will happen in 4 month. Then put into POTs outdoors and how it will affect them.
I guess I got an early start lol. They should transplant one more time from these 5 gallon pots. They sure do like the soil mix. A little hot from the Fox Farms Ocean Forrest.

This is the time of year when I am busting open new seeds and starting to take clones. I flip a lot of that to flower to determine what I am going to go big on outdoors. Plenty of time to make up difference with larger numbers of smaller plants vs bigger monsters. Those big plants end up super thirsty towards April and May and I always ended up stressing them too much. Much easier with smaller plants, in greater numbers, already sorted and sexed.

Hey there,
Just an update this morning and ask a question.
Has anyone used FFOF and mixed it with potting soil?
I bought Fertilomb Potting soil. Seeds in cups were great. I mixed together the two in a pail to thin it out a bit.
The FFOF was very hot. It burned my leaves to a crisp.
I cut off the dead and watered again. This happened right after transplant must have shocked the heck out of them. I guess keep watering they should come around I hope.
I have added no nutrients to my soil. Thanks for looking.

Morning here in Colorado
I watered deep finally. They should all perk up soon. I gave each about 400ml today. Ill let them dry out a couple days. With Watering can I added CalMag to it to bring PH to 6.8. I do not like the transplant portion seems to have stunted them all a bit more than I remember. Same 5 gallon Pots FFOF and Fertilomb Potting soil with perlite.
I'll give it a week and see.
Thanks for looking.
