Overcrowded?

Got a 5x5 coming in tomorrow. I'll just be responsible and grow no more than 9 for each 4x4 side and veg them in the 5x5. How many would you grow in a 4x4 and what size pots to finish in?
I'd grow no more than four in a scrog. I'd take clones of everyone else and chop down to the four you've selected to finish. Otherwise you need a LOT more light and I would not scrog so I could get to them. If this is a first grow I'd reduce the amount now.

I've tried too many in my 4x4 and think less is more. I've stuck to one for a few grows now and is much easier to water, less spillage. 9 eight gal round nursery pots fit 1m2 perfect but hard to water back of tent if not automated. If I were to start over l might go 4 but no more. This one about three weeks into flower cycle. Almost filled tent up but not quite.

That's 1 heck of a plant lol i think I'll do 4-9 in the future depending on the time frame I'd like. I would love the simplicity of just watering 1 plant. But 2.5 lbs in a 7 Gal, that's just amazing! I do have some moms i could flower out down the road, possibly the 3 in the 4x8 when I replace them. Part of the reason with so many plants is to pheno hunt and have variety till i find some unique keepers.

How long do you veg 4 and what size pots? Also how much light are you talking about? My 820w held up pretty good for 12 last time in 2 gals. But i hate watering and cleaning up that many. I'm leaning to 4-9 plants between 3-7 gals depending.

I lolipoped more today, day 21 since flip. Will defoliate in a few days or a week to let them recover. Decent stacking on some and frost is starting on a few. When do y'all defoliate or do you not? 20220815_203638.jpg20220815_203650.jpg20220815_203720.jpg20220815_203730.jpg20220815_203744.jpg20220815_203833.jpg20220815_203047.jpg20220815_203453.jpg

Defoil is def necessary to get better light penetration. I'll defoil up till 3-4 weeks into flower. BTW, you might have a P deficiency going on there. Your mid leafs are deteriorating.... or possibly light burn.
I been playing catch up with these girls. Organic is honestly harder for me. I'm not consistent with staying on top of top dresses. I just fed a tea yesterday hopefully that carries them. I'll top dress 1 last time this week.

Do you do all larger fan leaves or just the ones blocking light. I've experimented with both. But i want to try a run with less plants with minimal defoliating and see the results.

I assumed that a praying plant is reaching for light. My outdoor plants pray on cloudy days only, when light is sufficient the leaves lay flat.
Based off photone and my phone. The accuracy is off around 30-50 ppfd based off Migrow YouTube channel. So rn across my canopy it's anywhere between 650 and 830 ppfd. At 70% power. Debating on cranking it up. I can easily get it to 1000 ppfd across the canopy.

Great for flowering, my Fluence gives 1550 ppf and around 1200 useable ppf. I hang over 3 ft above canopy and cut hours to 16 for veg and still stress them. No dimmer. 400 to 600 should be close for veg. My 600 w 4x4 light veged best at 30% power. Do what you want as it's your grow. I only know from trial and error. Pic at 28 days from flipping.
