PAR meter and Spectrometer Hopoocolor OHSP350P

I've been looking at different par meters for my room when I came upon this spectrometer capable of measuring ppfd as well. It'll cost me about $1400 CAD to my door. VS an apogee MQ500 at half that price. But I really wanted to be able to measure my mixed spectrum of CMH and led lighting so I am tempted by this spectrometer.

Does anyone have experience with these Chinese spectrometers? The demo videos are somewhat compelling.
Spec sheet attached.

I thought the full spectrum Apogee is made for lights like LED and CMH? What limitation are you anticipating with the Apogee?

The Apogee only measures intensity, looks like the HOPO quantifies spectral distribution. Pretty nice if it's accurate. Been looking for something of that nature myself.

That would be interesting to use but for me not $1100 interesting. I'm more interested in intensity data for repeatability and evaluating bulb life.

Ya but colour data is important too. Colour determines leaf size, stretch and many other plant attributes even pest resistance.

Right but we have spectral data from the light and bulb manufacturers do you think it could be off enough to have an impact?

Would be nice to see if the spectrum really changes when lamps are dimmed or overdriven. Some who build their own LED lights may wish to try and replicate a spectrum. There are many reasons one might want to see the spectral distribution. Sure for most you don't even need a meter, just replace HPS bulbs every 6 months for example.

I came across this the other day: https://thegrowkit.ca/product/quantum-par-ppfd-lumen-meter/. I posted a link to it in a thread I posted the other day about new "Korona Par Meter App". Look what it claims to do, for basically the price of a top end Apogee meter (canadian prices are fucking stupid). I don't know anything about the company, and the "appeared on dragon's den" does nothing to inspire confidence from me, haha. But neither does alibaba (not for a 'big ticket' item like that)...I duno, depends on the manufacturer and warranty/service, internals, etc.

Figured I'd share this anyway. I found it while looking for info on this "new" one from hydrofarm: https://hydrobuilder.com/media/pdf/instructions/PHOTOBIO-PAR-meter-Instructions.pdf
It's just a V2 of their old green one.

Wow thanks for the link. That's closer to the price I'd risk the $$$ for. Lol

Exactly what I was thinking too, dude. Haha.

I've written them an email and haven't heard back yet. I don't see a phone number...I'm very leery. If you find out any info about it, please @ me. I'm so tired of using a bullshit lux app (that isn't calibrated for anything). If you have an iPhone, check out that thread I posted or check out "GrowingAnswers" youtube video on it, it's called "Korona".

I've used the Korona app before. I've been meaning to do a comparison with my lux meter. But with the paper diffuser the numbers seem reasonable.

did they give you any idea when they would have them back instock?, is there any specs for the growkit quantum par meter ie nm resolution, how many sample points, accuracy ect?.

i have been looking at the hopoo HPC300P, the specs look good just no reviews of it anywhere and its not crazy priced at around £470 uk. it would be nice if you could use it with a smartphone but i looks like its computer only.

@grotbags @MidnightSun72

The one from growkit site is an "Everfine".

thanks for that.

the specs look good on the everfine but at 2000 euro its far too expensive.
its looking like the hopoo HPC300P is cheapest decent specced par meter/spectrometer that i can find, might take a chance on one...

They aren't looking to restock these. 2c followed up with them.

It's crazy how there is like no reviews anywhere of any of the Chinese meters.
