Plant maitnence

Hey there,

I have four very happy plants that were cloned from a buddy and have been growing very actively for about a month under one 600 watt switchable ballast. They are doing well but I wonder what type of pruning and trimming is best as they veg. I have read before that my light will only penetrate 18" of foliage. Should I be trimming inner leaves and providing a direct path for the light to penetrate the plant? Another question I have is about the walls of my room. I wanted to get panda plastic but it was an option at the time. I went with thick black plastic. I also have semi gloss walls which my research indicates is the nearly the least reflective surface. How big of a difference will this make in my quality? Four plants and one 600w is plenty of light from what I've seen.

Thanks again for your help. Have a great day

Here is my issue with you saying you got just black plastic...panda film is used for it's white side....the black is to make the white not see through...and help with heat and what have you...any light that gets through the white side is absorbed by the dark side instead of just bouncing around any farther...anyway...Reflectivity might be one of the least important things in a grow, but it is also one of the easiest things to change...but it isn't a big deal really, as long as you have adequate lighting, and it sounds like you do...but a lot of light is wasted if your area is not properly reflecting the light back onto the plants...

I have to disagree that the plant should be left alone during veg...I think the more you mess with them in veg, the less you have to in flower, and the better your yield with just a little training...I top my plant back to the first true node right after it starts to get in the 4th node...that way I have 2 main branches from the very beginning...as these 2 main branches start to grow in I keep bending them back towards the soil so they start to spread out a little bit..then I stake them in that way...then I will top the 2 main branches back to the first node off the first branching...so now I have 4 main stalks with nothing in between...all the colas end up the same...there is a guy on here that does it but calls it mainlining I think...I didn't realize it was called anything...I just like the way doing it grows...he makes it easy to understand what I am describing though, because he has pics...https://www.rollitup.org/subcools-old-school-organics/517798-main-lining-ace-spades-tutoral.html
that is it...anyway, I do the same thing, but I start earlier, and he calls it something...lol. so...don't worry about messing with the plant in veg..you can bend, cut and trim whatever branches you want and it will just change the shape of the plant...Just make sure to leave at least one node with it's leaf set...

I said 'leave the leaves alone', not leave the plant alone. No one manipulates their plants more then I do in veg.

Well now that I've got your help I also noticed yesterday that my leaves were turning up at the edges on two of them then this morning the other two. Not to sure about posting photo's. Other then the turning up at edge of the leaf they look super healthy.

Ok here's the pic. This is all hypothetical anyhow right. hidden 001.jpghidden 002.jpghidden 003.jpg
Also with Lst do you get the same yield with out any popcorn or do your colas stay about the same size as they would normally. On the one hand light equals weight right. so same light no popcorn would mean larger cola's. how ever is there a point at which the plant can't produce anymore?
