They would have died off anyway. That low down the stem isn’t anything to be worried about. If it starts to move up the plant, that’s a cause for concern.

Hey was wondering if anyone could help me identify and fix whatever this could be? I trimmed off the bottom leaves because they were decaying , but it seems whatever happened to them has moved up the plant. Can someone please help.

what are you growing in? Plant seems too small to to be having issues this early.
I personally think the ph is your problem. That low of ph is typically used for coco or a hydroponic system. Try shooting for 6.5-7. Certain elements/minerals aren’t available to the plant in that low of ph in soil. Not saying that will cure your problems, but it’s a starting point.
