Pool noodle DIY DWC

Roll with me on this journey as I see its quite new(or at least not mainstream yet).

Will be using pool noodles cut up instead of rockwool for clone propagation all the way to harvest.
Simple single-bucket air stone DWC from PA Hydroponics with your run of the mill RO H2o, simple grow ferts and ph adjusters..nothing fancy. The fancy part comes when i will be time-lapse filming this experience even if there is failure. I will also post week by week here with vivid photos.
Unknown clone strain but week 5 of mothers, i know which I want to clone and rejuvinate.
This should be fun!

Truth.
Now I'm wondering why this is the first question. I'd thought using a pool noodle instead of rockwool or other mainstream media would have been embraced or at least questioned a bit differently BUT I have been wrong before..

Actually I'm quite interested in how this would work. I remember seeing a grow awhile back where they were using those styrofoam packing peanuts. I have always wanted to try those coco chips myself. In fact I think I'm going to buy a brick right now.

Keep us updated on your progress using the pool noodle. :peace:

You're not really doing anything that hasn't been done before which is why the response is lacking.

You had me at Pool Noodle.
He had me at noodle. Mmm noodles, now I'm hungry.

I just don't understand where the savings is with changing up the rockwool for a pool noodle. Unless that is, you cant get it. I bought a sheet/ pack a few years ago that I still have and use. Granted, I'm not production growing, so there's that.
In the past, I have successfully transplanted from soil, and just wove the roots through my dwc bucket lid, and filled with hydroton. It worked well with no need for the rockwool, I assume you could do the same and completely remove it from the equation. You'd need to keep an eye on the early days of moisture retention, structure etc. but its possible.

I've never used em for that but have used pool noodles for pipe insulation. At a dollar a holler from the .99 store they're cheaper than 5.00 at the home depot
