PPM

Hey guys, I just read PPM is important to nutrients plants.

My Amnesia Haze is currently on 8th week flowering in a 6 gallon pot in coco x perlite.
I tested the runoff for PPM, it came out at 450PPM.
As I read, that reading is too low. I should be having at least 1000 PPM, is that true?

If so, how do I increase the PPM?
I have already dumped quite a lot of nutes into my water and yet the PPM is still at 480 only.

My plants recently had a nute burn so I flushed it about a week ago and the browning on the leaves stopped. But my leaves are now turning purple too. I keep temps lowest at 21 Celsius.

This PPM stuff is confusing AF. I need layman explanations. I need solutions to fix my PPM without dumpin in more nutes. Not only is it not cheap but I don’t want my plants to get nute burn again. Please help.

Hard to say, you might have had other issues that caused a lockout or some other issue. The best person I know here when it comes to understanding nutes and their quantities is @Renfro . He even has an amazing calculator he made for such calculations. Hopefully he is online at some point and can help you out.

Edit: Another question is what is your PPM before you feed, not the runoff but the actual nute mix you are feeding with?

You didn't get nute burn at 400 PPM. Just didn't happen. Maybe a potassium deficiency with burnt tips mimicking a nute burn.

When mixing your nutes it is good to measure them in mL. How many mL per gallon of each bottle do you use? What is the water source (tap or ro) and PPM? Are you testing pH?

Layman explanation of PPM, mg/l is elemental PPM. The PPM we measure with a meter is actually electrical conductivity and is converted to a "PPM" with a multiplier, usually 0.5 although some meters use 0.7. So 2000uS (microsiemens) EC equals 1000 PPM @ 0.5 conversion.

Here's a convenient conversion chart for ya

I've had mine for nearly 20 years to and it still works great. It is also an ideal stirring stick.
Great for range tolerant crops. 100PPM graduations. I love mine for grows. And it is a stir stick, illuminated, EC and reset with soft scrub and a quick rub and rinse. 002.jpg003.jpg. Can't beat it.

Fancy, looks like they have upgraded the lights or something lol. Also looks like they've increased the price :( I spent about $100 CAD when I got mine and that was a hard pill to swallow at the time (in hindsight it was worth it though, as it's one of the few tools I have that still works after that long).

I'm cheap and frugal. Paid far less helping an out of business shop owner in FL recoupe. I'm a cheap bastard. LOL.

My blind self can read it at first light. Worth the price.

Yep I'm cheap (read: poor) as fuck. I just chewed someone out in another thread of mine for suggesting I just go buy another $285 light (when I already have a 600W HID and 240W LED and was just asking about higher temp @ 600W or lower temp @ dimmed 400W.

I might have been a bit harsh but that seems to be what everyones advice is, go buy this expensive thing that you already have one of. Almost as if they are selling their weed illegally for profit and have money to burn (or no bills?)...

Same. I love it. Only recommend a very few things by name. Unless it is equivalent or superior for less. His own grow to each.

P.s. I use my $6 pen more often around the house and with small indoor needs. But the light was worth the extra cost. And lifetime. I'm on my pen # 4 or 5.

I might add that I bought a bluelabs pH pen a few months ago (for nearly $100CAD) and that was *NOT* worth it. It requires a lot more maintence then I'm generally prepared to do, it's no faster and its like 5x more then one of those cheap ones. Bluelabs truncheon yes, bluelabs pH pen no.

Total PPM in nutes are only 480.
I’ve added so much nutrients and yet it still reaches only 480. I’m making nutes in batches (3.8 x 4) and feed 2000ml each feed. I feed everyday.

It’s all so confusing I don’t even know what’s happening.

I follow a feed schedule from a YouTuber weed channel as he’s using the same nutes as I am.
Tap water, PPM at 200+\-. After adding nutes PPM goes to 480. Ph at 6.0.

Even in layman I’m lost brother. Do you have a example?
