Project Durban Duck

This project started 2 grows ago when I grew new420guy's Auto Durban Poison. It grew huge fast and was the biggest yielder of the tent. I really liked the plants growth habit and the smoke from it. I also grew Auto Duck from DP. It also was a nice plant but light on the feed and needed extra calmag. I don't push feeding like some do. For veg I start with 1 teaspoon MaxiGro and 1 tablespoon Epsome Salts then up to 2 teaspoon until the second week of flower or so then 1 tsp MaxiGro and MaxiBloom and finally 2 bloom until flush.

Back to the plants. I had one Durban male and one female. The male was used to pollinate most of the plants from that grow. As luck would have it my favorite smoke from the grow was a tie between Durban and Duck. And thus the project was started.

Now I'm growing a few Auto Durban x Auto Duck F1 and 1 Pure Auto Duck. The goal is to make a Bx to Duck and F2 seeds in hopes of finding something special.

Here is a pic of the plants. Left and middle are Auto Durban x Auto Duck F1 2 per pot. Back right is Auto Duck and front right is a pepper plant sprouting.

End goal is to eventually have a stable Duck leafed plant with purple buds. But that will be a few generations down the line.

I like your idea, very original.
Although instead of Durban Duck I would have called it Duck Poison just for shits and giggles
Good luck, I'll be following

I've been smoking a lot of Auto Durban from my last grow and man I gotta say it is really enjoyable. At first I didn't find any seeds but now so far I've found 5 or 6. So happy because 420guy has reworked the line. So maybe my next grow will have some pure Auto Durban. The female I had was considerably later than the male which is why only a few seeds were made.

As a grow update the little Auto Duck is finally starting to stretch and show pistols all over the place. You'll have to wait until next weeks update to see.

All of the plants are doing well! More than well actually they are doing great. The male is starting to drop pollen. I think Auto Duck will be ready for pollination next week.

On to the pics - First Auto Durban x Auto Duck male and his mate

On your March 5th post, you mention defoiliating. I know all of what I read and hear says do not mess with or remove perfectly good leaves and auto flower plants sometimes do not have many, but the plants I have now have 2 massive leaves near the top. I tuck them and the next day they have popped back out. My camera is down.. but my question is: how much harm would it do to remove them. Plants have been in flower for 2 weeks and were planted 02.07.21. Where did you defoilate?

I have always defoliated (veg and flower) my autos with no adverse effects at all. The experiment was defoliating a small plant. Go ahead and trim them imho

All the plants are doing well. Not sure if I mentioned or not but they are receiving full strength bloom nutrients 2 tsp MaxiBloom and 1/2 tbsp epsom salt. All but one are showing positive results the other may have a potassium deficiency. Enough babble on to the pics
