Getting back into growing after a few years hiatus. First legal grow. Please comment on my grow and give any advice you have.

Here's the basics:
Strain: CSI's Purple Dogbud
Space: 36"x20" Tent
Light: 320 Watt LED rig with 8x 3000k COBs
All organic

I popped all 7 seeds in the pack, but culled a slow starter immediately. 6 out of 7 sprouted within 24 hours of being planted in jiffy pots. For this run, I plan to veg short, just long enough to get a few cuts from each plant, then throw 'em into flower. Hoping to find a few potential keepers to turn into mothers.

4 days after sprouting. Transplanted into Roots Organic's Green Lite.

8 days.

12 Days.

14 Days. Transplanted to 1 gal. smart pots with a 50/50 mix of Green Lite and Paonia Soil Co.'s Heavyweight 50/50. The clawing on some of the leaves is from not having my fan set up right.

18 Days. Starting to see some decent differences in pheno. Looks like a good mix. Leaves are clawing a bit on a few plants. Looks more like too much N this time. Soil must have still been a bit on the hot side.
20210813_163845.jpg

19 Days. Looks like the clawing is already going away again.

Well that brings us to the current day. I'm really excited to see how these turn out. This is my first time not growing SCroG, although I plan to return to that method once I find my keepers.

Again, I would appreciate any advice anyone has to offer.

I've noticed that my first set of true leaves(single blade) has started to yellow on every plant, but the rest of the leaves are pretty dark green from the hot soil. Any thought's on why that may be? Temps have been sitting between 78 and 83 F during the day and around 71 at night. RH is pretty consistently low 40%'s.

29 Days. I forgot to mention in my last post that I decided to top them. Just tied all the branches down last night. Had some drainage issues after the up pot that caused some major stress. They've just now dried out after watering them in. Looking much better after some defoliation. Gonna try to find something to elevate the pots tomorrow. Hopefully that will fix the problem. Tomorrow will be the first day of 12/12. Planning on taking two cuts from each once I get my clone space set up here soon.

looking good, i'm wondering what technique you will use instead of ScrOG? i'm just doing my first ever grow and ScrOG seems to be the way, i just ordered two more scrog nets cause the first ones were so satisfying to put in

Just regular old LST. I'll support as needed with the same aluminum wire I'm curtently using to hold my branches down. I'm definitely going back to ScrOGin' though, once I select a pheno or two.

On your next grow, try putting the screen way lower.

34 days. Starting to stink pretty good already. Finally got the overwatering/poor drainage under control. It really did a number on #6 in the bottom right corner. Kinda unfortunate considering #6 had the best root system and was looking the best out of all of them until recently.20210831_153741.jpg

Day 43. Watered with Molasses, Mycos, and cal-mag last night. Have been using only mycos and water. #6 and #4 are starting to yellow a bit. Gonna start feeding with something soon. Id like to go with full on organic tea, but I'm debating on just a top dressing or some terp tea for early flower. Any suggestions?

Moved some plants around, order is now:
6 4 5
2 1 3

Day 46
20210912_083210.jpg

Looks like at least one cut of each plant is gonna make it. Order is 6-1 top to bottom
20210912_084747.jpg.

#2 looks like it's got a hint of purple already.

Based on what I've seen so far, I'm thinkin I'll keep #1,2,5,6 for another round. I'll be keeping all six though until I've cured everything properly, and done a good smoke test.

Day 51.
Battling some deficiencies with #6 and #4. Hit em a few days ago with a HEAVY dose of compost tea from a local shop, mixed with a strong banana tea.
#4's leaves have been droopping for some reason, but the newer growth looks greener again.
#6 looks happy except for the slowly yellowing leaves. A few older leaves have reddish purple tips.

I'm gonna grab some stuff to start making tea, and top dress tomorrow. Both shops in town are out of pretty much everything organic, but I found a shop an hour away out in the sticks that's got it all.

Just realized I've been saying the wrong soil name. It's Paonia Soil Co's The Bomb, 50/50 sphagnum/coco
Can I ask where you bought this? Been wanting to try it out.

Local-ish hydro store supposedly carries it but has no stock and told me Paonia is moving towards commercial accounts only and they wouldn’t order it for me.

Thanks Baccamsauce!

Mile.high, I sent you a dm. I'm liking the soil a lot. It's a shame to hear they're not gonna keep selling it to us regular folks.

I picked up a bunch of organic goodies today. Top dressed with worm castings, kelp meal, alfalfa meal, fish bone meal, neem meal, and Langbeinite. Planning on making high PK teas to feed as well as ewc teas. Thinkin seabird guano, bat guano, kelp and langbeinite. Maybe some banana too until the last few weeks. Or should I just make one tea?

I've got the light cranked to 250w, but I've gotta leave a side vent open that needs closed every night to keep the temps in check. Hopefully it'll start cooling of here in a few weeks and it wont be a problem.

Day 61. Entering week 5 since the flip.
Been feeding em a tea with:
Kelp Meal
Bat Guano
Langbeinite
EWC
Fish Bone Meal
Banana Peels
Orca Mycos

This has fixed my deficiency problems. I finally got a hold of some seabird guano, and plan to simplify the recipe to:
small amount of high n bat guano
seabird guano
Langbeinite
EWC

Everyone seems happy for now. Half of em are starting to show some purple. The two that had the worst deficiency problem have purpled up quite a bit.
Of course #5 is the only one who's clones didn't take, so it looks like I'll be re-vegging. She definitely matured faster than the others, and was probably a bit too far along into flower when I took the cuts.

Day 77 / Week 7 of flower. Things have been going good. Its finally cool enough here for me to crank the lights full blast to 320w. Frost is starting to pile up nicely. #4 is purpling up on her healthy green leaves now. #5 and #6 are also starting to color up a bit.
#4 is easily the frostiest too. I wasn't feeling too good about her for most of the grow, but now I'm really hoping she's a keeper.
I've got #4 ,2 and 1 ready to throw in the tent as soon as I harvest.

Week 10/day 98/66 since flip

Well, I burnt the shit out of a few of them. #6 took it pretty bad, #5 burnt a few calyxes on one top. Buds still look nice and green though. I think I overdid the langbeneite in a pre-cooked top dress, and then watered it in with more in a tea.

#1 loved the high dose of nutes. She didn't burn at all. She's looking a lot like the mom, but with narrow leaves. Pretty sharp chemical smell .
#4 has a great non-sweet grape smell when touched
I chopped #3 because she hermed. I didn't realise she was getting blasted by a light leak. She definitely wasn't gonna be a keeper. She was leafy as hell, never had a smell, and cloned like shit. The flow is pretty potent though.
#5 has a mostly chemy smell. The lower buds are purplish up good.
Poor #6 has had it rough. She was the worst affected by overwatering early on, and now her leaves have been burnt to shit. She's definitely the most sensitive.
#2 has been looking pretty good. Similar to #4, but with no purple, and no grape.

Probably gonna finish out the week and then give em the chop.

I chopped em tonight. They're hanging in the tent right now while #1,#2,#4 are waiting to go in. Re-veggin #5. Her clones never took.

I set up a drying tent with some panda plastic. So now, I've got the next round moved into the tent. I decided to go back to ScrOG this round.
