Putting together a tent

Probably should’ve posted here first before pulling the trigger on stuff but excitement got the best of me. Anyway this is what I’ve got going on.

Putting a grow tent together, have the room so went for a 4x8. This is all new to me and beginning to wonder if I should’ve started off a little smaller.

In any event on the way I have this tent on the way :

And these lights :

Now I’m wondering on ventilation / air circulation. The research I’ve done thus far shows everyone using carbon filters and mostly venting the air right back into the room / house. My intention is to vent right out of a near by window, is a filter necessary in that instance? It’ll be on a 2nd floor so I’m not sure it’ll be very noticeable, the smell, ?

Oh and I bought 10 3 gallon fabric style planters or whatever, they were cheap. If they’re no good, no real loss there.

Just looking for input. Any suggestions / advice is definitely appreciated!

Will definitely notice the smell without a carbon filter, may also need some kind of sound dampener depending your choice of fan etc.

You’ll want the air circulation from an inline for sure. Up until late veg/ beginning of flower I keep the carbon filter off (longevity) and just shove some dryer sheets into the end.. or carbon sheets. Cheap and effective. Gl :joint:

You'll probably want three of those lights for more even coverage across the entire space.

Pick up some saucers for those pots as well...get something to elevate them so they don't sit in water.

You'll need several fans inside and a few spare because shit happens...tower fans, oscillating fans, static fans, lots of options...just keep the air moving.

Depending on your environment, you may need a humidifier, dehumidifier, heater or AC

There's timer's, extension cords, tools, all sorts of shit...medium, nutes...gonna need a long list of shit still...you were wondering if perhaps you should have started smaller...haha maybe...you don't have to fill that entire tent though so you could still keep it at 1 or 2 plants and learn as you go.

Wow thanks for all the input so far. As I’m sure it’s obvious I’m trying to kind of do a budget build, somewhat, what would a reasonable priced exhaust fan / filter combo be? Am I looking for any specific cfm or anything for the 4x8 tent?

I use both vivosun and ac infinity for exhaust fans.. Vivo is cheaper, hasn’t failed in 2 years 24/7. A bit louder than AC infinity, but you can dampen it.
-4x8 I’d say at least 8” . Two on separate sides would be better. That’s a big tent , I’d look around on here for someone using that size..
-Carbon filters ,, stay away from vivosun .. they don’t last. I’m getting smells from AC infinity as well after one run. A lot of people recommended Phresh filters. I haven’t used but it’s next on my list.
