Question about soil

I'm 3 weeks into my first grow, and aside from one of my cats destroying a couple of plants they appear to be doing fine.

I think I should have put more thought into my soil selection. In the first, seedling pots I used Miracle Grow indoor soil. I re-potted them into 1 gallon pots after 2 weeks. Here's where I think I made a mistake. For the re-potting I used plain old dirt. Just potting soil with nothing mixed in. My reasoning was that since I am using a high nitrogen, liquid fertilizer (12-6-6) I didn't want to over-fertilize them by using a soil that had fertilizer mixed in.

The plants are looking great. My plan is to re-pot them into 3 gallon pots, maybe in a couple more weeks. By that time the root ball should be filling the pot, I would think, and be ready for a bigger pot.

Question is, should I stick with plain dirt for the second re-potting, or buy something with nutrients and fertilizer mixed in? Also, I'd like some comments about how best to use the liquid fertilizer, how often to apply it, etc.. The fertilizer is called "Grow," and it had good reviews on Amazon from cannabis growers. I also purchased a product called Flower Fuel (1-34-32) for the flowering stage. Any comments on how best to use that product would also be appreciated.

Thanks!

Potting soil contains fertilizer and feeds for 4 weeks in general. Miracle grow will feed for longer by time releasing. Thats the difference.
