Questions about mh/hps Ballasts

hey guys so recently i bought a cheapo air cooled hood and ballast just to mess around with as iam a newer indoor grower the brand of my ballast is a Quiet Line if anyone has used or knows of this brand the issue i had is 2day is the 5 day into 12/12 and i went down to chek on everything and it wasnt on i looked over everything it shoulda bein fine even checked my timer nouthin wrong so i unpluged it and pluged it back in still nouthing so i unpluged it and let it sit for about 10 15 min long enough to smoke a bowl get bak plug it in boom its workin again just trying to figure out if this is my ballast or the bulb both were brand new as far as i know i bought them online just some specs so u know its a dimmable electronic ballast goes from 250w up to 600w

The light can do this if it has had many hours of use you said its brand new so thats out of the question. It could be a thermo issue tho like the ballast is getting over heated which will cause it to flick off.

Also since its brand new I'd let it cool down remove the bulb and look the the base of the light you can tell bad solder by it looking splatted or green/blackish marks. As well check the actual socket where the bulb screws in for black/blue markings.

A number of ballasts will also tell you if unplugged wai ten minutes before plugging back in ... id be very weary of the heat situation... what do use to cool down.. it says air cooled but are you air cooling it?? also the bulbs can be a pain in the ass and often times are... screwing them in could be a joke... literally.. .how many stoners does it take to screw in a lightbulb.... No one will ever know!!.... anyways they can be tough to seat but dont usually unscrew once started what type of bulb also ... i think HPS even as its dying turns off and on over and over again trying to fire... it could be MH I cant remember but Id keep an eye on it closely... flowering not the best time to have lighting issues

thanx guys for all the tips going to check everything now just cheked and everything looks good and to clarify its a 4x4x8 tent and iam guessing a large 6in exhauste fan to cool the light and the ballast is outside of the tent in a cool room the only thing that lookd odd at all is the bulb it was brownish around the base of (it looked used ) which is expected didnt look this way wen i got it and iam not sure what type of bulb came in a set up as in ballast air cooled hood and bulb
