Look, it comes to down to people not wanting to feel old. My wife's mom is turning 60 and she had a major panic attack which lead to hospitalization. She said "what have I actually done in 60 years?". If I was turning 60 and the world was in this state of mass consumerism, factory farming, slaves making our stuff in 3rd world countries, climate change and rising temps at an alarming rate, id feel like I fucked up feeding this machine for that long.

Crazy conspiracy theory, but I think the planet is trying to kill all of these old people on purpose.
I think back to how lake Erie was actually on fire, how we had kids working in mines and factories, how women and minorities couldn't vote or hold office, all the advances in our last century and take comfort in that.

It is easy to complain about 'consumerism' when you can buy anything you want.

I am sorry to hear about your mom, hope she is feeling better. It was a lot harder for women of her generation to have the same success as women born today have. Even with the constant spam of horrible news that makes it seem so much worse than what reality actually is.

Thanks, she has also worked a government job she hates for the last 30 years, so that played a big role too.

The benzene poisoning problem is extremely sad. It is used in manufacturing most of our phones and you can probably guess who gets affected.

I remember chewing on lead toys. And playing in the Detroit River in the 80's.

And reading about leaded gasoline poisoning the countryside before they switched to unleaded gas. The people working with asbestos and everything else. It is crazy, another reason I look forward to all these supposed robots that are going to take all our jobs.

It sucks how we don't know until we know. That is a very sad video.

Yeah I guess I should look at the good things. I never watched the news but started like a year ago. I think I should go back to not watching it.

Just stay away from any Murdoch owned media. Australia at the moment is trying to get a Royal Commission into his "news" networks here. Wont the shit hit the fan if that happens!! haha.

Al jezeera is good as is the BBC, ABC (England and Australian), SBS and The Guardian (online) are some very good news services. The guardian has up to date news and a current affairs. Just be aware with breaking stories they dont have the full story, so take with a grain of salt.

OK mate. You sure schooled me good, lol.

It's about the antagonist vs synergetic relationship with the nutrients. You can't even pronounce Mulder's Chart, so I'm not surprised you don't get it.

Also, I'd love to be able to respond on your Aussie thread more, but you delicate flowers banned me from your thread, lol.

No. I was counting GHWB. You don't count Trump. I guess you could make the argument that it was four Presidents ago depending on how you count it. I started at Clinton since it was his election that cut Bush I short. There have been three two termers since it happened.

The fact remains, it is two out of the last six, soon to be three out of the last seven. So it's not that rare in modern history.
