Journals been a good read so far. I'm only on my 1st still so can't offer much for input lol. Only possible advice towards the lack of sunlight would maybe put an outside cfl near it so it gets light earlier / later . cheapest method anyways lol. I've just noticed alot of greenhouses have supplemental lighting for the dark/shorter days.

hello thanks for the input.

I thought about supplemental lighting but no - I'll just leave it as is. That involves purchasing the fixtures, getting extension cords and rigging some shit up. then you would see some bright ass lights in the balcony at night which woudl call attention and this is supposed to be low key.....

it is dreary as hell today too.... I think I'm just going to have to suck up the fact I planted during a bad weather spell.

here the weather is constant year round - same temperature - High/Low- 10-12C/18C (45/70F).

But weather is defined as a summer - when we get a long stretch of warm sunny days Winter - a long stretch of rainy and cloudy days. It doesn't matter the month, time of year...

We had a hell of a summer for 45 or so days Nov-First week of Jan... now it looks like I just got unlucky with the sunny days for this first part of the grow.

the plant seems to be doing OK in the cooler temp.

I do place it inside at night (until it has the first fan leaves - then it sleeps outside with the rest of the plants).....

It is growing slower than my other plants for sure, but it's going...

Yeah I guess I forgot about the low key part lol. Being legally allowed 4 I was going to try one outdoor and continue my tent in the summer with the other 3. Not sure I want to risk pests, rippers etc. Not exactly a fenced in yard.
None the less I'll be following along seems like an interesting journal :)

i'm holding off the temptation to put a photo up until tomorrow....

this is an auto...auto plants will want to flower at a certain age regardless of size. could I end up with a 'single nug' plant?

I'm doing my first grow right now myself so that I couldn't answer lol :p . maybe start a 2nd just in case but that bit me in the ass , started 4 random seeds and thought I'd end up with half males or something so started 2 auto's after. & well none where male so now I've got 6 in a 4x2 tent lol .

Yeah that's a weird mutation lol. Defiantly would keep it going just for the 'wtf-factor' lol. Curious to see what comes of it though.

Are you growing basil?
LOL

I'm curious about what will become of this seedling, I hope you'll let it grow.

this thing is sitting next to our basil plants so I might lol...

but seriously look at it.... cannabis stretches from the stem upward if in low light. this thing has the cotyledons stretching upward, this new growth that came out doesn't look like any cannabis plant I have ever seen in person....

and it's not my first rodeo I've done this enough times to feel comfortable - this has me completely perplexed.....

I started looking up mutations and there is a mutation where the cannabis plant has extra chromosomes and it can grow extra leaves but that is purposefully bred into the strain and is still experimental because of instability..... and here's the kicker - the two first tiny leaves that come out look normal. this shit ain't normal.....

I always like having a small aromatic garden - young basil, cilantro, chamomile... not a whole lot of work and we use it in the kitchen....

another thing I noticed this afternoon is that where the two first leaves are - there is an indication of a node. can't see it clearly in the pics above I'll try to get a pic of it as time goes on.

this plant isn't dying, it doesn't look sick, or struggling.... the opposite - if I didn't know what it should look like at this point I wouldn't think anything else - it's just a little plant we need to give it time..... now that I look at it closer there is def a second leaf coming out.....

the overwhelming majority of people voted to keep it and the score is 3-0 so I'm keeping it.

I'm also germing the next seed to see what the hell is going on. I am on a tight timeline for a trip, but I can just tell my sister in law to water it while I'm gone so no more rushing... this is oficially a curiosity thread, the WTF factor as nate put it....

It's definitely not a cannabis plant but it would be cool to find out what it is.
you are correcto sir.

after repeated messages with an old buddy of mine, he told me to stop being a pussy and to dig up the soil and be done with the doubt. I did. I found the cannabis seed, smothered to death by this horde of invaders' roots. a single mm below the soil, tap root was 3 times as long as it was in the first pics... it's survival of the fittest out there and my cannabis plant was stuck in this mo' fo's roots. slightly center of this one..... I won't bother posting a pic as the roots, seed and taproot were all covered in black dirt and nothing can really be made out it is all the same color.....

I gently removed it, rinsed it off with water and put it in some more soil and lightly sprayed the top - you never know plants that seem dead sometimes come back....

I am 100% certain my cheap, contaminated soil, alongside burying it way too deep contributed to this..... if my baby had broken ground before this, this, abomination, she would've smothered the invader and lived.....

I have had dud seeds not break soil after seeing the tap root....but this was flat-out murder. and on branded, auto seeds too....

in the vincinity of this dirt pile we find the proverbial garden of eden of potential contamination sources. but I'm going to bet this is some sort of vegetable seed. an uncle has his 'salad garden' in the same farm and I can just see the tossing of leftover seeds in the pile as if they disappeared... that'll bite him in the ass later when he finds invaders all over his shit......
