Reservoir question.

Is it better to run RO water to your reservoir and have an auto dosing system to set the ph at 5.7. Or is it better to add your nutrients and then adjust your ph?

Wouldn't it be better to start with water that is ph stable when changing your res?
No, most nutes will buffer in some way, I mean you can if you want but it’s a waste of product and pointless imo, you will still have to check and adjust in the end. Try it out, best way to learn and understand is hands on, check the ph, adjust it to what you need, add nutrients and then see where it’s at after 10-20 mins. My water and nute combo puts me pretty close, but I still need to ph on a res change, topups, not so much.

All you should worry about when it’s base water is making sure it’s quality RO water, low ppm. Ph 8, great, 4? Perfect... add nutes and ph accordingly to 5.7 or whatever, I recommend AN ph down, ph up I found not as bad, I like a strong ph down though, others wouldn’t hold as long.
Do you use RO water?
Yes, not everyone does though, I have issues without.

What are you trying to do? How big is the reservoir? What method are you doing?

can I ask what nutrient line do you like?
I used a lot over the years, some garbage, homebrew, organic, the stuff some guy said was good.. when I switched to hydro I went with GH flora trio then ended up using just bloom micro and the Lucas method. I’m going to use a single bottle this time, GH floranova bloom, jacks 321 will prob be the next one I try unless this works really good. I used AN in peat before, GH was better imo.

5 spot 13 gallon buckets
You will want to fill the system, add the nutrients and ph the water last. Change out the water every 10 days max, topup in between, same way, add water and nutrients, check ph last, adjust as required.

Ok thx I am trying to set it up right the first time it is so different than growing used to be.
I know, you will love it, less time on feeding and messing around, more time looking at them and maintaining a nice canopy. I’m in between but plan on filling it up again in the next week here. I built a new room and only have one run on it now. Roughly same size as that tent, 6x6x9.5, the the space is actually longer but I kept the canopy 6x6.

What lights do you run because that was the hardest decision I made. I am still really leaning towards side lights.

Side note, co2, the fan you have there, is that for lights out or scrubbing air in the tent? You can’t run ventilation with co2, if you are planning on bags and the cheaper co2 options, I would abort the co2 and get this first grow under your belt on this setup.

I’m in the middle of building 4 f series strips side light racks for a total of 600w led (be a first for me to use any led) and my main light is a 1000w DE and a 600w SE HID. The 1k I just upgraded to a ushio bulb.
