Should I Be Defoliating at This Point?

First outdoor grow (2 successful indoors).

Should I be defoliating these? The one on the right is in heavy pre-flower and stopped stretching. The left one is still stretching like crazy, with no pre-flower yet.

I did lollipop them about 25% from bottom up in mid-veg, but they're pretty thick now.

Thanks for the help everybody. This is a lot easier with the advice and experience of this forum.

I'd wait for more opinions but I would because I'm in serious humidity.

I don´t remove single leaves but whole branches, which are damaged or weak, so I won´t harvest them anyway, and tiny buds further then about 10 inches from tops. When for extraction, I would keep everything.

thats what I do. This week and next are the last weeks I thin out unwanted branches. I lollipop and then take out branches I know will produce airy, little buds I don’t want to mess with, then on as many of the remaining branches as I can I trim up 1/3 of the way. I’m pretty much done with messing with the plant in the pic and I I have 5 more to do the same thing to. I do not defoliate until the day before or the day of harvest and that’s just to make the trimming easier. CDD5DB25-8ACA-4D2F-B159-28B3858AA25A.jpegCDD5DB25-8ACA-4D2F-B159-28B3858AA25A.jpeg

Lollipop yes
Not defoliate outdoor
You can always thin if needed but I like to have all the energy of the plant when it begins budding
Make airflow around them not thru them
After stretch if there are signs of mold I will thin out the canopy a bit. I don't think molds will be a an issue with this dry heatwave.

This year I’m trying to leave more leafs but lollipop whole branches if that makes sense.
So I’ll get rid of shoots but leave the big leaf at the base of the shoot on the main stalk..
Figure those fuckers are power plants. Not sure tho just my own broscience I am testing out I guess
Hella Jelly seems to be Hella happy.

I would take all the bottom stuff off unless you live in a desert an it never rains.

Dang that’s the biggest fan leaf I’ve ever seen! I’ve had them come out with 13 an 15 leaves each but that fan is huge.
That’s why I feel it best to leave them. I’ve had bigger leafs than that one tho
The bigger the panel the more energy gets absorbed to be used as fuel. Also I’ve read leafs are nutrient banks for lack of a better term. So That big ass fan leaf looks a big nute reserve.:weed:
Again, this is based off nothing but the gut and amateur research at best.

Never seen any reason to defoliate outdoors... Only time I ever find defoliation necessary and effective is indoors in a crowded grow space (common sense here...).

However, removing the bottom larf and poor undergrowth "lollipoping" is feasible outside. Just make sure and make clean cuts when removing branching to reduce mold spores and or insects from getting inside of the plant.
