I see absolutely nothing wrong with this. In fact I'm surprised more Senators and House members from both sides don't do the same. She didn't have to do this to vote with the GOP so that's a big nothing. She has always had the ability to vote with the GOP if she wanted to. This changes nothing with that regard. She's still going to caucus with the Democrats so the 51-49 makeup of the Senate isn't going to change. At least for now. She wants to keep her committee assignments.

I'm hoping more politicians break from the stupid D or R, Us vs Them nonsense. Independent voters make up around 40% of the electorate. That's more than either the Democrats or Republicans. We shouldn't have to choose either side. Americans are sick of this. The extremes on both sides are driving voters away from both parties.

Hopefully this is just the beginning of the end of the Democrats and Republicans holding our politics hostage with their crap. It's time for Americans to say "I don't belong to either of the two cults". The best thing for America would be an end to the two party system.

I wish more would follow her lead, but I really doubt it. I think politicians like the two sides of the coin, it simplifies what they have to run on and makes the claim of "but the other guy is worse" much easier when there is only one other party to run against.

GOP.

She can be what she wants but it's a two party system and why Sanders will never be more than Senator.

she has no loyalty, she has no commitment, she isn't doing this to help the system, she's doing this to help herself.
she could give exactly zero fucks about anything but her own career, and i have exactly zero respect for her.
i hope the dems steamroller her with a heavy hitter and she fades into the obscurity she deserves.

She's very transparent and not good at her job.

What the hell is that photo supposed to prove? Some female Senators in the same photo? That doesn't prove anything. She wasn't standing at a podium surrounded by republicans when she made the announcement. She did it on CNN and not FOX.

I can post pictures as well. Damn, Sinema standing next to Biden. Oh crap! Susan Collins is there as well. Oh wait, is that Lisa Murkowski to the left of Biden? The horror.

Here's a bunch of Senators together. The nerve of them doing something Bipartisan. I suppose Chris Coons will be the next to jump ship. Maybe Bill Nelson. Maggie Hassan should be ashamed of herself for being in a photo with Susan Collins.

I agree with this 100% do away with it! People (well anyone who isn’t blinded by our ridiculously one sided media anyway) are sick of both sides! Nobody that I know aligns fully with one side or the other. People just like to go with who the media tells them is a better person.

What are you talking about? That photo you posted had nothing to do with her announcement. She made the announcement on Twitter and CNN. Tammy Baldwin a Democrat is also in that photo you posted.

Arizona Sen. Kyrsten Sinema is leaving the Democratic Party and registering as a political independent, she told CNN’s Jake Tapper in an exclusive TV interview.

The photo you posted was from November 29th and was a press briefing after Bipartisan passage of the Respect for Marriage Act.

remarkably few people are sick of both sides. It is, however, a popular theme with paid trolls who hacked long-dormant accounts.

Good for her! The two-party system should be abolished anyhow. George Washington (an Independent) warned us of the two-party system being our potential political downfall, upon his farewell address from office. He was 100% correct on that.
