Smell difference: Indoor vs. Outdoor

Does anyone notice a difference in smell re: outdoors vs indoors grown?

I’m not bagging on indoor by any means, but it seems to me that indoor has a less complex(or is ir just different?)terpene profile? I don’t know exactly how to describe it specifically; it just seems that, to repeat the same in French: indoors is missing a certain je ne sais quoi.

I would love to hear your opinions.

There's more to it than the soil it's in, but thats something, big deal in wine industry.

My 2016 Chernobyl was grown outdoors in a 15gal. pot using NFTG nutes and was the best-smelling pot I've ever grown- strong lime sherbert with a pine-sol undertone

I've never grown indoors but I will say a couple of the strains I grew last year (Chinook Haze and Copper Chem) have some of the most remarkable terpenes I've ever experienced in many decades of consuming good weed (last year was my first grow). Not taking credit for that personally, although I took a lot of pains to prepare a good organic living soil and cared for the plants well (they were in the ground in native soil that I amended). I suspect sunshine, fresh air, and the good earth all contribute.
