Soil and water only Grow

Hi everyone.
First time grower here.

I picked up some Bu's blend potting soil mix at my local hydroponics store. I was looking for SoHum living soils or Michigan mix M3. I've followed a few growers and breeders on IG that use this in their organic grows. I wastn able to find this where I live locally without ordering it.

I plan on doing a soil and water only grow. Indoor with LED lights. Trying to keep it as imple as I can.
Soil set up so far is
- Bu's blend potting soil
- pearlite for increased drainage

Will this set up work for a simple organic grow?

Here is my "MICHI-CAN" blend. Just add water and a top dress will get it done. The amendments are Stonington Blend lobster kelp fert and dry boogie brew tea. Too easy.

Wasn’t aware of that, Deleted my post. However for for a beginner it’s still a soil that has its nutrients and won’t necessarily need nutes?
No offense intended. Just a very strong opinion after my use of several skids worth. Massive instability and nute and PH issues. Was nice years ago. Designed to fail to force you to buy bottle line up. The potted decorative I save for friends all are in FFOF or FROG. Bareroot trans and healthy in a week or two. Sad. But for profit not one time sales stuff.

Non taken, I’m still learning myself. I currently use happy frog but now I’m looking at comparable soils to possibly switch to in the future. And unfortunately I can’t make my own super soil.

The basics are available at most lawn and garden centers. Or online. I get almost 60 gallons for just under $150 with my mix. And only due to brand name loyalty ATM.

Should be firing up on Thursday.
HLG 225 LED light
Yield Labs 2x2x4 tent.

I'll document my grow and build here.
I may pop a another seed or 2. Can't decide if I wanna go 2 or 3/4 plants.
2 would be medium, 3 or 4 would be small.

My opinion would be one plant topped and trained in a 3gallon plastic pot. 4 tops will yield more than 3-4 plants in dixie cups. 2x2 is not much space to play in. My thought is all.

Good luck.

Funny you say that 2x2 isn’t much space. I literally just started thinking about expanding my stealth grow to a tent but can’t figure out what size.
4x4 is definitely too big, but I also kind of felt 2x2 was too small. What’s the smallest tent you’d consider worth it?

Thanks!
This is my first grow. It will be in my closet so 2x2 is about the best I can do space wise. I don't want to go too crazy.

I would like to try growing 2 plants. I have an indica leaning seedling currently. The sativa seed is still Germinating. I know I definitely want to grow the sativa(wife and I love em!)

If the indica turns out to be a male, I will definitely do one plant (sativa fem.)and train it. Thanks for the advice! Looking for all the help I can get. I'll pick up a 3 gallon soon.

2x2x6. I think 3x3x6 would be perfect for a small one plant grow. The low ceiling will bite you before the footprint.

I’m not too worried about the ceiling, anything beats 40” that I’m stuck in now. And as long as i can still use my HLG 135 I don’t really care.

How do you like that HLG 135?

I almost bought one but a different grower recommended a higher power light for my grow. Which is why I went to the 225.

Honestly it’s incredible. I’m still pretty new to growing and when I started I got a 300w viparspectra because it was cheap. But wanting to increase my yields and keep my temps more consistent I finally went for it.
Even with the 135 dimmed to 95w it’s still SO much more powerful than the viparspectra. Overnight growth damn near doubled if not more.5E5C378F-56E2-42B4-A044-18DE70D8EAA4.jpeg

Only fear I have at the moment is just how powerful this light really is. As I stated before I have a ceiling at 40”, and my light is already flirting with the ceiling with a fan going directly across the driver and fins to my exhaust to avoid any problems. At this point I almost feel like I’m throwing a Hail Mary banking on my LST keeping it low enough.
hence why I’m looking for a tent as a backup

Holy shit. Thats impressive.
Practically doubled in 2 days!

I guess I'll have to crank my 225 WAYYY down for the seedlings. The indica one is looking a bit stretchy. I put it up near the bulbs last night to try helping it out. Can't wait to get the new light though.

Grow ace has scale on the R-Spec 135...Im curious if i should return the 225 and get the 135. The 225w may be too much in the 2x2x4.
Keep us posted on your grow!!!
