Although I know fungus gnats obviously live outside, I don't think I've ever seen one before LOL!

Fungus gnats aren't normally something I worry about, at least in no-till. Yeah they were a moderate issue in cycle #1 and smaller in #2, after that for me they were not to be seen. Even yellow cards will not get a single one now in cycle #7. Don't worry much about them if you're establishing a no-till.,
You never had gnats because it's your first grow. Why tell someone that they shouldn't worry about gnats because "you never had them" that is some pure gospel, preach it! Seriously, that is your help, you said "I've never had gnats". BTW, gnats eat roots and they ARE a problem if not taken care of. The solution is so simple. Are you going to accuse me of selling Mosquito Bits now, because I did recommend it after all. You can also buy it on Amazon. I must be a fucking spy or something.

What are your thoughts on this. I have a 4x2 tray. I could spread out my dirt so it’s only about an inch or two deep. Spray with the dunk water. Keep rotating the soil and spraying. I guess I don’t want it too wet but I can up the temp in garage and maybe put a fan on the tray to help it dry faster so I can spray the dunk water more often.
What say you? Thanks.

You want a final winning solution? Get some food grade diatomaceous earth and mix it in. Done.

The mosquito dunks are easy to use. It might not look they are working at first, but just give it a few days and maybe 2 waterings with the mosquito dunks. I get gnats pretty bad in my earthboxes and mosquito dunks/bits work every time. Relax, it's not aphids or spider mites. Gnats are easy...

I've been trying the bits instead of dunks. Sprinkle on top and Some in my res. Do you think the dunks are more effective? Been a few days and most the flyers are disappearing but still plenty of gnat larvae on close inspection of soil.

Totally agree deal with them asap. My friends grow had aphids they went nuts nearly destroyed his first crop. Told him to do proper clean down but didn't listen and it fucked his next crop ended up with hollow stems.

Still fighting the basterds, ive added sand now as mulch. This has helped ten fold thx to someone on here.
Now the problem is im careful to water slowly but the soil floats up and disturbs the barrier.
If i have to keep adding sand will this be a problem ?
Thanks.

Perlite, rather than sand. I had fungus gnats recently and this wiped them out. Sticky traps dealt with the flyers. I have also discovered that a few doses of carbonated water seems to kill off the larvae.

If you are just using water Hydrogen Peroxide (3%) mix at a ratio of 1 part Hydrogen Peroxide to 4 parts water works well as a drench to kill the eggs/larvae.

Yeah was thinking that, soil is home made, cooked for over two months. Was scared I would kill everything.
I run h202 in my hydro 29% at a ml/gallon.
