Spider Farmer vs Mars Hydro LEDs?

No, i dont have the daisy chains setup, they are all just plugged into a power strip, then into a timer. So I thought the timer and strip maybe are the issue as thats what customer service said. The brighter one was the second in line when plugged into the power strip.
Probably just normal for a Chinese light, lol.

too much on the timer. No bueno man. If it has a double plug.. I will double the lights on it.. but not a power strip of lights into a timer. Put them separate to test it. If it still does it.. plug them in another outlet.

Just a warning to everyone running SF1000s (or any SFs), check and make sure they are shutting off completely. I have 4 of them in a 5x5 and noticed one was not shutting off completely(like 1% on), then I noticed when the other 3 shut off the 2 outside rows of lights stay on slightly (less than 1%). I contacted them and they said that is caused by a timer. So I eliminated the timer and the same thing happened. Then I eliminated the power strip and plugged them right into the wall and the same thing happened. The 3 eventually go out so I figured that was normal and the way it is but with plants that need 100% dark I cant risk these bright ass lights putting out any light when I dont want them to. Simple fix would be turning your lights off a lil earlier than usual and treat that little bit of light after you turn the lights off like it's mimicking a sunset.

If this was me, I'd have returned the light as soon as I noticed. This iscwhat warranty is for.

The response you got from them would have only expedited the process for me.

What pisses me off though is the loss of time, the extra hurdles you gotta go through,... wouldn't it be nice if they just acted like a business that cares, sent you replacement's and asked you to then return the faulty's once you got the replacements so you don't screw your grow up.

HLG wouldn't make you dive through hoops. It's American companies for me. I could call up HLG and say my light doesn't work and they'd just send me a new one.

Yes I will be going with a US company after the response I just got. They sent me a chinese video of someone taking apart a chinese power strip and swapping the wires like someone else said but the product in the video is just a chinese power strip not a light. So are they asking me to swap the wires on my power strip? I eliminated my power strip, plugged the light right into the wall, and it still stays on.

Hi friend,
Sorry for the late reply, we have got the information from our engineer,
could you please kindly help us to change the position of null line and live wire according to the guidance?

1. Twist the screw away
2. See the null line and live wire
3. Change their positions
4. Tighten all the screws

At the same time, check that the ground wire connection is stable.
Hope you can also send us the result. Thank you so much for your assist!
Kind regards

That's lame as hell, but I'm not surprised. No Chinese junk for me if I can help it.

So they are saying they wired it backwards and yet it went out the door. Do they not do QC checks?

Heres the nail in the coffin for this company. Now they send me a video of them taking the power supply off and I suspect they want me to take a good power supply off another light to solder it onto this faulty light. Im done with SF!! Ordering a new one and returning this one. All going up one ebay now. Going with HLG for now on.

Hi friend,
Sorry for what happened.

We got the video and once again provided the video to the engineer,
received feedback please removed the drower supply from the light board to check if there is still a problem with the light turning off.

Here is a video of removing the power supply, you can view and follow the steps to remove it.

If the problem cannot be solved after the power supply is removed,
please provide us with a photo of the power supply, and we can send you a new power supply.

Hope your cooperation in advance.
Best regards.

My response :

Are you kiddiing me? I don't have tools like that. I posted this on a forum I'm on and have had many people comment that this is terrible customer service. You really want me to solder wires. I want my light replaced. Or I'm just going to order a new one and return it with this faulty one. Thanks for wasting my time and helping me decide to sell these lights and use a non Chinese brand.

Them:

Hi friend,
Sorry for what happened.

If you are sure that you cannot remove the power supply by yourself,
we suggest you send it back to the repair center for inspection and repair, but it may take some time.

According to the warranty policy, if you choose to send it back to the repair center,
you need to bear the freight. After we repair it, we will bear the freight and send it back to you. Could you accept it?

Hope your understanding,
Kind regards.

Yea it's lame, but this is why we all use Amazon... free returns within the window, and even then if you are persistent they will usually still do it for free up to a year.

Additionally, I buy only with mastercard which doubles the warranty, so if the manufacturer gives you the run around, I just hand it over to mastercard and it's dealt with instantly.

I'm looking to add about 200W-300W to my grow, the Mars Hydro TSW 2000W (300W) at $269 seems like a good bet... the Spider Farmer SF-2000 (200W) is 100W less and $300.

Are the Spider Farmer lights are much better over Mars, and if so, in what way?
Spider Farmer and Mars Hydro are the same company, just use different company name.
Maybe Spider Farmer for low quality, and Spider Farmer sell high quality products.
