Still sparkling/crackling no matter how much i purge?

Yup...

Before extracting..you can use your chamber to dehydrate the material.

Any water content left in your bud/trim will turn to vapor in your chamber.
Sir D have you ever tried putting a freshly cut off the plant bud in your vac chamber to dehydrate it? I'm wondering how it would work. There's 75% moisture in a fresh bud so would that amount of water then go into the outlet tube and out through the vac pump?

I'm gonna try this and see what the fuck happens. Curious...
I'm wondering if it will negatively affect the smell and smoke of the bud also?
I love the smell, taste, and smoothness of long cured, slowly dried flowers so I stay away from quick forms of drying mj with heat and de humidifiers set too low.
But maybe dehydrating with a vac chamber and pump is different? Maybe it will preserve the smell and dankness?

Any ideas?

Interesting, i was just going to put the nugs on a sheet pan and let them air dry overnight or something, but now you have me curious about using the vac chamber to dehydrate!

Here is the link to the picture you post above: http://www.kval.com/news/local/106087888.html

That explosion happened because there was a butane leak in the freezer and when the fridge opened the fridge light made a spark which set off the butane.

This can happen no matter where you store your butane if it's in a small enclosed area and you have a leak. No matter if it's in a garage, cupboard, fridge etc..

If you are storing new butane can's in a freezer make sure you have the caps on them so nothing in the freezer pushes the nozzle which will let butane out.

Simple safety will keep needless accidents from happening. I store all my butane in a deep freeze. New can's with caps on.

I also was under the impression that butane is safe to store in the freezer same as it is in the cupboard, you just need to exercise proper safety like BCOGYODA indicates.

I think the no-no is an open container of butane. Bottles of butane will not be an issue.
but if you look at all the guys that spray butane into a thermos or jar, and then mix material in and let it soak..where are they letting it soak? My guess is the freezer.

Your guess is wrong unless they are stupid. Most people I know that long soak, leave it outside in a bucket of ice with a wet rag on top. Anyone who wants to extract INCORRECTLY, doesn't matter long soak or tube spray, will find away to do things dumb ass wrong.

Who are all these guys you speak of? I know many members on here already said don't do it....

i had never seen anyone post about where they let it soak, if any of them see this hopefully they'll chime in. If it's done outside in a bucket of ice thats fine, i just haven't seen any posts. no need to attack me.

Yo Yoda!!

I wouldn't put fresh cut flowers in the chamber...

However, after 4-5 days you could use this to eliminate excessive water content.
I learned this tech from the gentleman that runs wax for Buds & Roses in L.A...

He learned it from this other cat that producing oil for several different shops in Cali.
Both of them did enough side by side comparisons to convince me.

Although I rarely do this any more... I just let it dry naturally.

But, ultimately.. The vac chamber is great because you need zero heat...
Water turns to vapor at room temp in vacuum.

*so, if dehydration is necessary, doing so in an un-heated chamber is the best choice.*

Your guess would be wrong in our case. The whole reason for using a thermos, is that the butane stays liquid for a couple of hours, just sitting in the shade with a towel draped over it, even during summer months here.

^2nd...

You can do two washes also..

30 minutes for purrrdy oil, then soak again for 1 hour to pick up the rest of the cannabinoids and terps.

Mig, do you have pictures of the product after each interval? Did you notice a big change in flavor, color, etc?

Excellent info! thanks guys, and Sir D i think thats a great Idea - 1 30 minute purdy run and another leftover 2+hour run. I now am shopping on canadiantire.ca for a thermos ! Lastly, can you please help me with ratios of butane to material for the soaking method? I will be running 7-8gs of very material for the first test. tek: freeze thermos and tane and buds overnight, go outside and spray tane into thermos, add buds and allow to soak for 30, filter and strain, put material back into thermos, re-spray and let soak 2 hours and repeat filter/strain/purge till no more big bubbles scrape onto thin parchment and vac purge (still trying to figure out how to vac purge properly) would this be pretty accurate?

i decided that next time there is some bud that i really like im going to buy a half zip JUST for this experiment. I will take all 14 and let it dry, and use half of it for a butane thermos soak for regular bho and the other half also thermos soak, but will winterize with everclear and compare results. Hopefully this weekend.
